Introduction
Basic literacy through education acts as the pivotal pace for social, economic and political development of any country. Therefore, teaching and learning methodologies are essential for effective curriculum content delivery as well as the improvement of a socially interactive environment to realize learners' best potential to light. In recent times, the instructional process and methods have chained in a majority of the pedagogical and andragogical cases. Learners in the modern age are embracing many revolutionizing teaching methods decamping from the orthodoxy schooling systems. With the integration of technological advancement access to education in recent age has changed the schooling techniques with even the increase and popularity of remote education over traditional schooling. It's against this background that this paper will make an argumentative presentation of how technological development is changing the traditional schooling techniques in the embracement of remote education.
Currently, learners are adopting technological application in the learning process improving the access to information and other learning resources while the traditional schooling techniques rely mainly on the textbooks as the primary learning resources. The use of textbooks as the main learning resource learners in the orthodox schooling system is introduced to the parts and moves to the whole. However, in remote education, the learners are introduced to the whole and moves on to the parts in any given learning concept. These learning differences have made a considerable contribution in the level and capacity of learning conceptualization. These evident differences in the concept of teaching and learning methodologies and learning outcomes yielded from remote education and conventional schooling have created observable differences in the contribution of technological advancement in education.
Educational practices have experienced changes throughout all learning levels because of the technological development of the learning systems and other processes in accessing learning resources as well as the process of curriculum dissemination and evaluation processes. For instance, due to the growth and integration of technological development in education, homegrown schooling has changed the traditional classroom attendance to online and distance learning techniques for learners as young as kindergarten and other elementary levels of schooling (Wei & Hindman, 221). The direct teacher-learner contact time changes with the advancement of technological systems in the learning system to change the traditional six to eight teacher-pupil contact time. Technological growth in the education system has not taken a proportionate dimension in the global arena because of the difference in the level of technological development of individual countries making the revolution of remote education have different levels f impact on the traditional schooling globally. In highly developed countries, for instance, learning systems have taken magnitude technological shifts where learners in the as low as elementary schooling level have full control of their learning time and preferences. However, the technological differences in less fortunate countries especially in the third world countries have a disadvantaged remote educational system and overlying on traditional schooling techniques.
Although the remote educational techniques have been seen to act as a substitute for the conventional schooling techniques, the argument on the increased online coverage of learners' access to educational facilities in the remote setting has changes some significant elements in the traditional schooling that are essential in a student's social welfare part of learning. Traditional schooling systems offer important socializing agents for learners to be exposed to the outside world outside his or her family to increase their exposure and understanding in the socialization concept of dealing with peers. When the traditional schooling techniques expose the students at a very young age to interact and socialize with others increase their socialization factors among other societal needed techniques for peaceful and adaptive coexistence among the community (Courts & Tucker, 124). However, with the advancement of technological systems in education, the population of remote education has eliminated the socialization significant of education to individualized and self-centered learning systems. Therefore the substitution of the conventional schooling techniques has seen a growth of antisocial community with the isolation of the different socialization elements that otherwise brought the people together. Therefore, the opinions in substituting traditional schooling with remote education have come in handy with its share of pros and cons (Craft, 187). Thus, the current situation in needing total change instead of an integration of the two systems to ensure that the virtues of both techniques increase the advantages of integrating technological advancement in the education system.
Conclusion
Conclusively, integration of advancement of technological systems in the remote education systems has contributed to significant changes in the modern schooling techniques decamping from the conventional schooling methodologies. However, the arguments on whether or not to embrace remote education at the expense of the traditional schooling techniques remains an open forum to draw different boundaries for and against both systems of schooling. The profitability of technological growth should not necessarily contribute to the substitution of the traditional schooling methodologies with the modern educational techniques but, should serve as the bridging point to connect the two methodologies in the instructional process for the betterment of the educational system. Although the level of individual countries technological growth dictates the shift in the educational system, the uniform revolution of the education system has over the years not taken an equal shift from the traditional to modern schooling techniques due to the difference in the technological growth to increase the debatable contribution it has made to the modern education system.
