Introduction
The internet of things (IoT) is a structure in which the internet is linked to the actual world through pervasive sensors and devices. This type of technology eliminates human involvement with the help of cloud computing technology hence permitting machine to machine communication. Normally, this attribute prompts clients to monitor and control the devices located in remote environs.
There are quite multiple factors that have impelled industrial automation and monitoring to shift towards the internet of things direction. These factors include; the aptitude to track and monitor things, and lightening of the workload. As stated earlier, the Internet of things devices usually use appropriate sensors to ration precise facets of the world around them. These facets include the position, temperature, schedules, handling, speed, and further environmental factors.
There are various methodologies that would be applied to achieve an IoT based industrial automation and monitoring system. In this essay, I put into consideration a two-set-up framework whereby a system architecture is first designed and later on a selection criterial is determined. The initial phase is established to offer a theoretical and technology-agnostic architecture that is considered generic to construct a wireless sensor networks that incorporates the internet of things then a criterion of selection is determined.
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a strategic precedence for manufacturing companies as it allows them to give more value to their customers as well as improve cost-efficiency of their internal operations. It also promotes more lithe and open architectures that offer provision of better customization and digital upgrades on multiple devices.
Due to the increasingly use of automation, and its use in high risk industries, it is frequently liable for triggering destruction and increasing the casual of errors made by human once catastrophes do occur. Suitable strategies should assume the presence of an error, and it should consistently offer feedback. However, a soft, compliant technology that incessantly intermingles with operators in an effective manner is advised.
Lastly, I have considered an IoT based Industrial Pollution Monitoring System where the system monitors and assesses the industrial pollution. This normally entails the gathering of information at multiple diverse locations of industries at steady interludes of time. This provides the data required to define the existing conditions. The system uses various multiple sensors such as the temperature sensor to measure temperature, the DHT sensor to measure the amount of gas, MQ-2 sensor, MQ-6 sensor, Dust sensor to measure the amount of dust. To enhance the reduction of the complexity of code significantly, a PIC microcontroller which uses Reduced Instruction Set (RISC) program is used. The data can be observed in any browser by a user once he or she logs in using the credentials.
