Introduction
Typically, as we pray for children who sleep in unfamiliar beds every night. It is essential to also pray for parents who had their children removed from their care. This ensures that there are restoration and reunification of families in the society. In most cases, judges, advocates, social workers, attorneys, and counselors are left with the mandate to ensure that foster kids are placed in protective care before they can be adopted by a family. However, it is essentials as citizens to also take part in helping foster kids to ensure that we empower them for a brighter future. Therefore, delving into ways to help foster kids like volunteering, donating and becoming foster parents provides that we understand the role that we play as a society in helping foster kids.
Volunteering
Volunteering is an essential part of helping foster kids. Mostly, the opportunities to volunteer with children under foster care are plenty. Meldrum affirms that "one can become a volunteer in programs like Kids Hope USA and Big Brother Big Sister" (Meldrum). Such volunteer work ensures that one is in a position to help foster kids by taking part in fundraising events that provide that they have medical supplies and essential commodities for their survival. Additionally, offering reading and tutoring services to foster kids as a volunteer also ensures that they can handle their SAT and ACTs easily. This provides that they grow up with adequate skills that ensure that they are in a position to be dependent and productivity.
Donating
In addition to that, donating essentials to foster kids also goes a long way towards helping them grow. In most cases, foster kids have nothing in their possession; therefore any donation is regarded as a gift in their eyes. Foster parents need to ensure that they invest in their foster kids by buying what the child requires out of their pocket. In addition to that, child welfare agencies also need to ensure that they collect essential items like foodstuff and clothes that foster kids require in their daily lives. Making donations at local agencies items such as; cash or gifts also ensures that foster kids live a better life across the globe.
Becoming a Patent to a Foster KidBecoming a parent to a foster kid is also a way of helping. This is because when one decides to become part of a child's life, then it means that they agree to shelter, feed, educating and cloth the child. By doing so, a couple secures the future of a foster kid. Becoming a parent to a foster kid is also essential because it is essential for every child to be under the care of an adult to ensure that they are in a position to make proper decisions in life.
Delving into ways to help foster kids like volunteering, donating and becoming foster parents ensures that we understand the role that we play as a society in helping foster kids. This is because in most cases children are susceptible and require adequate care and love. In most cases, the only places where they can receive appropriate care and love are within a home. Therefore, ensuring that every foster child gets foster parents should be the objective of every social worker.
