A vegetarian diet is the type of diet that is comprised of high consumption of fiber, folic acid, magnesium, vitamin c and d, unsaturated fats and also countless phytochemical. Vegetarianism is the consumption of these diets for a person and happens to be associated with so many advantages while it also has a number of disadvantages. Vegetarianism can be considered healthier than eating meat at some point if all the benefits associated with it are weighed against eating meat.
Vegetarians are less possibilities of being affected by diabetes; this is because vegetarian diets are associated with a significant reduction in the levels of diabetic incidences. The diet also helps in the management of diabetes as from a number of medical research has shown. Through this, the diet reduces the likelihood of the case happening in the first place for the vegetarian. This cannot be said for the meat eater hence making vegetarianism healthier and recommendable to a person willing to make a choice. Kidney stones problem mostly occurs due to some animal proteins which are present in meat eaters but for the case of vegetarians, this is not a problem hence the chances of kidney stones development is reduced (Pilis et al., 2014). The vegetables which make up the vegetarian diet has high urine pH where low pH has been associated with kidney stone formation in the human body. This shows the importance and the health state of vegetarianism.
Meat eaters are at a higher risk of cataract development from research by the Nuffield department of clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford. While on the other hand, the vegetarian diet tends to reduce these chances of cataract development (Radnitz et al., 2015). This makes the vegetarian diet healthier and the best diet choice so far as compared to meat eaters. The strong relation between cataract development and meat eaters makes the diet unhealthy for consumption. Another advantage associated with the vegetarian diet is the low chances of obesity and stroke. The chances of a vegetarian developing the two condition are subtle close to zero, for vegetarianism they tend to be more deliberate in the food choices and they are less likely to make food choices in relation to emotions or different feelings which in return reduces the chances of obesity and stroke (Orlich et al., 2013). Food choices based on emotions happens to be one of the reasons for obesity but as seen, for vegetarians this does not apply hence giving them an upper hand health wise. Meat eater tends to have the emotional food choice eating problem which in the long run leads to bad food choices which lead to problems such as obesity and stroke.
There is a problem worth mentioning when it comes to vegetarian diet. Meat eaters get animal proteins which are very important for the human body which lacks in the nutrient composition of a vegetarian examples like fatty acids, and also the consumption of meat lowers the risk of iron-deficiency anemia hence this is a deficiency the vegetarians are more prone to especially for the women. As seen early animal products contain essential amino acids required by the human body which from the plants-based-proteins do not have. With this, it's worth mentioning what makes up a healthy diet. The body requires a variety of nutrients which are not only found in the vegetarian diet; a healthy balanced diet requires nutrients from both animal products and also vegetarians diet. With this in mind, this comprises of a healthy, balanced diet hence making vegetarianism, not a healthy balanced diet. Also the immune to nutrient deficiencies, meat eaters are not immune to nutrient deficiencies but since meat is a valuable source of many nutrients reduces the chances of deficiency nutrients in the human body which is a different case for the vegetarians (Milner et al., 2015). The vegetarian diet does not have a high number of nutrients as compared to the meat eaters diet.
A balanced diet is what matter the most but the risks of sickness that can affect the body compromise the whole body. Vegetarianism reduces the likely-ness of different disease from affecting the body making the diet healthier as compared to the health levels of a meat eater (Woo et al., 2014). From my point of view, a vegetarians diet is healthier as compared to a meat eater. The health of the body and the less the chances of different sicknesses from affecting the body. The shortcoming associated with the vegetarian diet ate very well countered by the advantages associated with the diet hence making the vegetarian diet healthier as compared to meat eaters.
Conclusively the diet that a person is to opt for needs to be the diet that keeps the body free of different body sicknesses or body complications and in our case the vegetarians diet happens to help avoid so many sicknesses such as, stroke and obesity, Kidney stone problems, cholesterol disorders, cardiovascular disease, reduce incidences of diabetes and more diseases and disorders. All these add up to the factors which make vegetarianism a healthier diet.
