Introduction

There are three types of microscopes, namely stereoscopic, electron, and compound microscopes. It is of the essence to note that microscopes help scientists to magnify samples that they are studying in labs. In the case under review, the class studied about the stereoscopic microscope, which is designed aid scientist with low magnification observation of samples (MsMecir., 2012). Stereoscopic microscopes are known for providing a continuous zoom magnification and also give the scientist a 3-D view of the specimen under study. Stereoscopic microscopes are mostly used in researches that involve the study of solid specimen surfaces. However, over time, there has been criticism regarding the use of stereoscopic microscopes due to errors that occur when they are used. The errors connected to the use of stereoscopic microscopes can be corrected.

Stereoscopic microscopes are associated with photomicrography errors. Research indicates that firstly, most of those errors are caused by the optical configuration of a stereoscopic microscope (Abramowitz & Davidson, 2019). The optical arrangement can be in the form of incorrect setting of a condenser, improperly adjusted illumination, and wrongly set aperture diaphragms (Abramowitz & Davidson, 2019). This can lead to illumination of images that are out of focus, unsharp, and hazy. Secondly, errors can arise due to poorly prepared specimens. A well-prepared sample should be free from any form of contaminations. Many aspects can contaminate a specimen, for example, dust, air, and or oils are among the most common specimen contaminators.

The good thing with noticing errors on time is that they can be corrected to avoid damages. Over time, the errors linked to the use of stereoscopic microscopes have been noted and a way of eradicating them (Abramowitz & Davidson, 2019). With that in mind, that is why more complicated stereoscopic microscopes have been introduced to the markets. Those advanced stereoscopic microscopes have a motor-controlled zoom which is integrated with a digital imaging system. Hence, facilitating a smooth connection between the stereoscopic microscope and its setting. Also, software engineers have come up with imaging software that facilitates the eradication of the errors noted above, which are mainly caused by manual interactions (Abramowitz & Davidson, 2019). A combination of these advanced stereoscopic microscope features provides the modern-day scientists with precise zooming settings and eradicates errors significantly.

In the field of science, errors should be avoided at all costs. It is imperative to note that errors are one of the factors that lead to biases study results in science. When scientists are using stereoscopic microscopes, they expose their study to mistakes which can lead to wrong results. That is why it is necessary to report the errors even in cases where they have been noted and rectified (Abramowitz & Davidson, 2019). Besides, when those errors are pointed out, they facilitate the process of re-making stereoscopic microscopes. That the because the engineers who design will indicate the areas to improve in the design of stereoscopic microscopes to eradicate the prevalence of those errors.

Conclusion

In conclusion, from the above analysis, it is clear that errors connected to the use of stereoscopic microscopes can be corrected. However, it calls for the users of stereoscopic microscopes being keen when using it as a tool of their research. That is because it may lead to biased results if errors are not noted on time. Also, the engineers attached to the field of designing and manufacture of stereoscopic microscopes should strive to come up with a better version of those machines to eradicate the possibility of errors.
