Introduction

Values are very critical in someone's life because they influence how we live our lives. The values determine how Christians relate with other members of society. In the course of interacting with other people through activities such as associating with employees or participating in community activities, Christians display their ethics (Wells & Quash, 2017). In my life, I have learned about Christian values, and there are those I consider very important to me. The essay will explore different Christian traits that I live with, how I came to have these values and their relationship with my plans and goals.

Important Values

One of the most critical ethical value that I have is forgiveness. Since an individual is living in a society full of different kinds of people, conflicts are bound to occur. Conflicts make live with each other difficult. Hence they should be solved; leading to the value of forgiveness. God encourages us to forgive each other as He forgave us. However, someone has to apologize to be forgiven (Greer et al., 2014). Forgiving each other encourages love among different people creating unity in society.

Justice is also an important ethical rule. Many people identify justice as fairness to everybody, which is not the case. Justice refers to people's activities that ensure the weak, and the poor people in the society are cared for, and they live better lives. God calls upon his people to practice justice to ensure that people do not suffer at the expense of others. Since one would hate to be mistreated due to their social position, we should avoid abusing other people (Thomson, 2019). Justice enables me to view each member of the society as equally essential and therefore help people who need my help.

Another important virtue is service. Service involves setting aside what is important to someone, or their families, or their groups to serve others. Jesus demonstrated service by washing his disciples' feet. The moral virtue discourages self-centeredness and allows someone to make decisions that affect the whole community. Life is more about doing what is best for other people (Beckett, Maynard & Jordan, 2017). The principle helps to create understanding in society, and people consider the effects of their actions to others before they take them.

Influences on my Values

My values were acquired in many ways. Having been brought up in a Christian family, my father ensured that we attended church every Sunday. The Sunday school teacher stressed forgiveness mainly when she taught us how to pray. One of her favorite stories in the bible was the parable of a lost son. The parable encouraged forgiveness, and the Sunday school teacher told us always to forgive each other. From that day, I knew that I had to forgive those who wronged me and ask for forgiveness whenever I made a mistake.

A devout Christian, my father always talked about how a good Christian should be of service to the members of the society. He was still discouraging self-centeredness and telling us that we were responsible for our actions. People's actions should benefit others. I, therefore, learned to be of service to all people. Through activities such as providing food to the homeless, my father's actions led to me regarding service as a great Christian virtue.

One day I visited the homeless with my father. I interacted with them as we were giving them food. Some of them talked about the tough moments in their lives, some being thrown out of the house due to lack of food while others went for days without food. I learned of how these people were disadvantaged and how they were mistreated. From that day, I promised myself to do everything I could to uphold justice to those who were socially disadvantaged.

Forecasting

In the future, I hope to start a real estate development company. Due to values such as justice and service I want to start such a company to help people who are homeless to acquire homes. By receiving funds from working for the middle class and wealthy people, the firm will have enough to build homes for homeless people. By doing this, I will provide justice and service to homeless people. Pursuing this dream will enable me to continue practicing these virtues.

By working with the homeless in my company, I will be able to help them solve any dispute among them by encouraging forgiveness. I will also encourage them to forgive those who mistreated them and warn them against revenging. Giving them employment opportunities and houses will help them forget their past. Through this, I will help to create a co-operative society with no conflicts.

Conclusion

Some Christian values are essential in determining how we relate with other people. I consider virtues such as forgiveness, justice, and service necessary to all Christians. I acquired these values in different ways such as through learning from my father. These values have impacted my life significantly and determine my future goals and plans. All Christians should aspire to uphold these laws virtues, leading to a better society.
