Introduction

A company's hiring decision should be considerate of factors like demographic coverage, motivating the employees, and focus on the achievement of the set goals. While hiring or promoting, it is crucial to take in consideration of the competences of the individuals. Hiring within the firm helps boost the employees' morale, save the hiring cost, and saves the training time and resources, among others. Hiring from outside the organization also has benefits like newly acquired skills, a variety of choices, and better workflow, among others. This paper analyzes why it is crucial to hire within and outside the company.

Hiring from within and outside the company will contribute to organizational strategies and goals in the following ways. Hiring from within or promoting existing employees in the company has the following benefits. First, it saves the company the hiring cost (Crossley, 2019). Placing an advertisement and conducting interviews can be costly for the company, hiring from within means promoting the individuals at no extra cost, hence saving the company's revenues. Secondly, developing already existing employees shortens the learning curve. The employees are already familiar with the company; thus, all that needs to be done is to show them how and what to be done. Internal hiring also helps with employee retention. When an employee is promoted, it is an incentive for him or her to work harder to the benefit of the company. Other benefits include, the company retain its investment in employees' knowledge and skills and boost the morale of the other employees who hope for promotion.

Hiring from outside the company also has its benefits. One benefit is that new employees bring with them new perspectives and ideas (Crossley, 2019). The newly acquired insights and perspectives can be used to boost the performance of the company and also achieve the set goals. Besides, internal employees feel threatened when they lose promotion chances to their coworkers. Therefore, outsourcing workers for new positions can reduce conflicts within the workplace. Hiring from outside provides a wide selection of employees. External hiring offers a variety of choices from people with different talents and knowledge. Finally, external recruitment helps with a better workflow. Promoting employees within the organization means interrupting the smooth workflow. Therefore, it is necessary to look towards hiring from outside. Both hiring from within and outside have benefits which out ways the other; consequently, it is essential to balance the two options when hiring.

While making hiring decisions, it is vital to consider the following legal factors. First, according to human rights code, it is illegal to post job vacancies based on skin color, race, religion, sex, age, marital status, and political belief, among others ("Legal Issues," 2019). Secondly, the person seeking a job must have a legal work permit. Employing people who are in the country illegally is considered a criminal act. Besides, the employer cannot ask illegal questions during the hiring process. Also, the employer should not practice discrimination of any type during hiring. For instance, it is unlawful to discriminate employees based on their color, age, or gender. Finally, the employer should consider the demographic aspect. The law states that the employer cannot acquire employees from one area. They must be from different areas, within or outside the region depending on the hiring abilities of the company.

As Human Resource personnel, I should ensure that the hiring decision is useful in the form of negotiation, consultation, and leadership. As a good leader, it is vital to choose employees with the best leading skills. They should also be responsible for their departments. I should not practice discrimination or favoritism when selecting employees. During hiring, it is necessary to allow negotiation of the employment terms. This will help the employee give opinions on what is required for the company's growth. It is also crucial to consult on the new or existing employees before hiring them. This gives the HR department the best platform to make the best decision on who to hire.

To ascertain the decision of hiring from within the company and outside, I will need to apply two society human resource management behavioral competences. They are ethical evaluation and ethical practice (Alonso et al 2015). An accountable HR manager should critically evaluation the competence, skills and knowledge of an individual seeking job before hiring. These aspects should match the company's expectations. The HR manager should also engage in ethical practices. He or she should not be engaged in corruption, discrimination, or favoritism, among other illegal issues. This will ensure that the selected employees passed the competency tests.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the company should consider internal and external hiring. Both types of recruitment have their exclusive benefits. It is necessary to consider both options to ensure the maximum advantage of the company. While making a hiring decision, legal hiring factors should be considered. These factors ensure that the company runs smoothly without legal interruptions. The HR personnel should be competent enough to ensure a smooth transition of these employees to new positions. He or she should exercise ethical practices and critical evaluation of employees.
