But Jo Nesbo has incredibly remarked and retold this infamous play, which he did in 2014 (Refalo 18). The book written by Jo Nesbo is incredible, and surprisingly, it has surpassed the expectations of many audiences because Nesbo has captured the story by Shakespeare and retold it in a very nice way. Nesbo has narrated the story and portrayed the original themes of revenge, love, and guilt in a perfect manner (Lanier 230).

The plot of the Macbeth by Jo Nesbo centers on the police force who are struggling to keep the town out of drugs. There are two major drug lords in the town who are a nightmare because they are hard nuts to crack. Jo has also been able to tell the audience about Macbeth, who is a manipulative police officer, and he is a violent inspector. In the book, Nesbo has captured the modern audience by sharing the unputdownable story of love, corruption, political ambitions, and greed in the small town, Fife (Refalo 18). More so, the modern audience can relate with the story of the drug gangs, who are ruining the town through their criminal acts.

The author, Nesbo, spends most of the time describing and narrating the Northern town, where unemployment is a major issue. Although the story is set in the 1970s, Nesbo has captured the modern audience by portraying the modern-day atmosphere and providing the audience an opportunity to experience the story as if it was shot in a modern cinema. In this narrative, Macbeth is the top man who leads the police force with his unnaturally strong attitude and passion for daggers. The audience can relate this experience with the modern soldiers who use rifles and sniper scopes, among others.

Macbeth was a leader of a police force, which was ineradicably evil. The end of the play comes when Duff prepares to arrest Macbeth. In the end, Olafson is shot by Fleance (Kingsley-Smith 281). In addition to this, Duff informs Mcbeth that he was not "born of a woman"; rather, Duff argues that he was cut from his mother's belly after the mother had been killed. The book and the play ends when Fife is now a peaceful town. But one of the gang members pledges that he will ruin the peaceful town once again.

In wrapping up, the narrative portrays the end of an oppressive regime, which is headed by Macbeth. The work done by Shakespeare has been designed to fit the modern audience, and evidently, that is what Nesbo has created this piece of work. Nesbo tries to narrate to the audience about this town that is plagued with unemployment, full of drugs, and disused railways. The modern audience can be able to envision the small town of Fife because Nesbo has been able to describe how things are done here (Lanier 230). He has described intensely the inhabitants of Fife, which allows the modern audience to get the picture pretty clear. The narrative that has been written by Nesbo is interesting, and it has helped to retell Shakespeare's play in a very nice way. Nesbo has done his job well because he has captured the interest of the modern audience and provided the audience an opportunity to learn about issues of corruption, politics, and police cruelty, which are issues the society faces daily.
