The term Enterprise 2.0 refers to the use of emerging social software within a company or between companies and as well as with their customers and partners. It is enforced by the use of tools and services which use the techniques of web 2.0.These techniques include networking, ratings, tagging and sharing of the enterprise's context. The technologies that are mostly used in the web 2.0 are the blogs, social networking, social bookmarking, mashups and applications, and wikis. Nowadays most organizations are writing blogs and pinning them in their website, and in this, the customer is given an opportunity to air their views concerning the organization and their services under the leave a comment tab. (Nations, 2016)
This technology is different from other enterprise systems because it changes the structure order in which information is supposed to be passed. The message flows laterally, up or down without following any specific channel as long the intended information reaches their customers, partners or other companies, this helps them to be able to reach more people faster as compared to using other enterprise systems. This makes it different from using a traditional corporate enterprise system, which information is usually passed upwards to downwards, i.e., from the seniors to the juniors. In return, they submit their opinions towards certain issues in the organization from the bottom to the top which consists of the managers this kind of system is slow since a specific procedure needs to be followed.
Social networking refers to an online platform where people share their information with the world. It fits well in Enterprise 2.0 system well this is because it creates room for a great interface on the intranet. Social network not only provides an interface for the intranet but it also adds utility to it.This makes it more suitable to be used by business and organization in the Enterprise 2.0.It adds utility in that the firm is carried out using several networks. Social networking helps in the easy flow of information and makes communication easier especially in a business or organization which has departments, and those departments are further divided into sub-departments (Ryan,2011).Big organizations and companies which use the enterprise 2.0 technology and employ social networking they stand a higher chance of acquiring specialized skills and knowledge. It is possible through the profiles in that a person uploads his profile on his expertise and skills so a company can quickly reach such a person since they will just need to key in details of the type of expertise they want in a person looking for a job.
