The anger outburst had led him to violate various school rules and have been seen in the vice-principal office six times. The rules violations have been out of classrooms without approval, fighting in the hallway and disrespecting the teachers. His behaviors could not be tolerated, and the last episode led to his suspension. The social worker, however, asked the vice principle to postpone any actions that could be made against Carlos until an appointment was made. Carlos is a young boy who has low self-esteem because as much as he does not want to admit it, he envies the life that his sister has and wish that he had a life like that.

He is so vengeful and does not share the same perspective as the other students. He claims that he believes he is a geek since people tell him so. He is not interactive, and he is quite and has few words to explain the situations. He sees other people as stupid because they do not understand him and that makes him so mad. He is a child who feels that he should be given attention and be recognized just like his sister Josey is. With the combination of his family and all the problems emanated from his fathers frustration of unemployment and his grandmother judgmental attitude, he has resulted in being over protective of himself thinking everyone will disregard him.

The Origin of the Problems

Although Carlos is viewed as a troublesome boy, he loves and care for his mother and thinks that his father mistreats her by seeing her as being stupid. He resents his father since he shouts at everyone. The anger comes from the fact that Carlos keeps every emotion inside him and the parents do not know that their misunderstanding is affecting him negatively. The problem at home makes Carlos insecure of everyone around him, and he feels the need to protect himself since his parents are busy fighting each other and solving their problems. He is a young child and feels that everyone he loves are not on his side and instead they are busy thinking he is stupid. He needs to be in the social work and be made to feel the presence of a home. Introduction to social work help students to apply theory and practice.

His problems emanated from domestic problems back at home. After the social worker had done an interview with Carlos family, it was evident that Carlos was a good boy and there had been no incident of misbehaving earlier. The fact that his family went into a financial crisis when Mr. Luis Mendez lost his job affected the family and most of all Carlos. Carlos is a young boy who has the right to be given attention and love by her family. The fact that this does not happen might have triggered the anger and the opinion of Carlos into believing that everyone is stupid and therefore his bad behavior.

Carlos claims that his grandmother supports his father and not his mother. His father yells at his mother and he notices that the behavior is not good. He feels the need to be aggressive so that he can pour out his emotions that he held up since no one can consider his opinion. He believes that his sister is a famous person and she spends most of her time with her boyfriends and girlfriends. Carlos admires the life of being involved in something big and being recognized. He also feels neglected since he loves his sister very much but his sister is always busy. Carlos does not have friends, and he is always quiet and being at that age, it is dangerous for him to be so isolated. He claims that he friends think that he is shy and that he is a geek. It is evident that his problem emanates from the environment that he is living in. The environment can impact on a young childs mind making him adapt to the circumstances. Carlos problems are as a result of poor parenting and impact of domestic rambles.

My opinion regarding Carlos the problem is that the parents should be asked to provide a conducive environment for the children to grow in. Loving and supporting what they do will improve their motivation and determination to believe that they are wanted by both their family and the society too. I think if the parents could engage Carlos and know exactly what he feels and thinks, they can make him relax and assure him of care, love, and protection.

This way they will be able to engage with their son and be able to know when something is going wrong. The best person who can help in this situation is the parent especially Carlos father. Mr. Luis is in a good position to give manly advice to the young adult Carlos since he should be advised to live up like a man in the future. The father should not yell at her mother in the presence of the children since they would feel insecure and afraid to open up to anyone in the fear they will be misunderstood.

Theoretical Explanation

Carlos problem which is anger and disrespect comes from being neglected by both his parents. His parents are busy dealing with financial issues, and they do not notice when their children need attention and to be guided at their delicate stage of their life. At an adolescent stage, the child is very sensitive, and their self- esteem can be affected should care not be taken. (Farley, Smith & Boyle, 2012) They need to be hard, treated with respect and not seen as troublemakers and stupid, the parents are disregarding their responsibilities, and they expose Carlos to vulnerability issues which make him aggressive and more withdrawn. Every action that the children were taken comes from the fact that they are usually afraid to face an inevitable outcome in their life and if theyre not supported they can make terrible choices and decisions.

An example is a case study of Sharon, who has a lot of responsibility balancing her relationship with a man and taking care of her family. The family was in a great mess. It is evident even when Sharon states that, If I know anything about raising my family, its that no one is going to pay attention unless its really bad. The man she sees on the weekend is a married man who wants nothing to do with kids. Sharons mother is 67 years old and is diagnosed with emphysema. She feels more called upon to be a parent to her grandchildren and therefore she allows them to have more freedom that they are supposed to. Mark is not given any attention and this result to him being aggressive just like his brother. Cindy who is 14 years of age is dating a senior man who is 25 years old. Mark is being rude and talks back to the teachers.

The relationship between Cindy and the 25 years old boyfriend is more tormenting to Sharon, and she believes that Cindy is sexually active and is involved in drugs. The social workers have not been reacting even after numerous calls reporting that the children are being neglected. Sharon was a single mother who was abused by her husband while the children witnessed. The act affected the childrens psychology, and since no one asks them about it they keep to themselves and respond to any behavior that would draw any attention.

This case scenario relates to Carlos case and the biggest problem leading to the change of behavior is the neglect and being a lot of responsibilities than their age. Intervention strategies should be applied so as to make sure that the family issues does not affect the behavior of Carlos. The strategies involve c therapy and counseling sessions so that the parents can be made to solve their issues without interfering with their childrens life. Mr. and Mrs. Mendez should also go to counseling to put their marriage in order, and by so doing they will bring peace at home (Farley, Smith & Boyle, 2012). Carlos problem originates from home and it can go on if the parents do not create a respectful environment for the children to learn good values and how to coexist with their mates peacefully.

The fact that Luis yells at Carlos mother and the grandmother do not support her is enough reason to make the children feel insecure and unwanted. Someones individuality can be defined by the surrounding and be repeatedly afraid of living up to their potential. Engaging the children into speaking their minds and answering questions on the likes and dislikes makes sure that one learns the problem that the particular individual faces and therefore formulating sessions that would make them feel comfortable and secure in their surroundings (Rubin, 2014). Carlos believes that people think he is stupid and shy, but he is the one who thinks they do not know him well. The engagement sessions will allow Carlos to say who he is and therefore make him see that there are different personality and everyone is unique just like he is unique and important. Making him feel wanted and recognize would raise his esteem allowing him to coexist with others in peace and respect.

Intervention Strategy

The intervention strategy should be very precise and private. The question should not be who is right or wrong, but they should be addressed in a quiet voice making eye contact with them. Humor is necessary to diffuse the conflict situation and make the individual relax (Eriksson, 2012). There should be 5 minutes spent while talking about how the individual feel about some issues that make them angry and ask them to go to a quiet spot and have a brief cool down time. They should be taught on how to negotiate nicely with their teachers if they have done something wrong.

Self-calming strategies should be employed like asking them about their favorite food, event or pet just to relax their mind. The children under the stress should be taken to the social work for counselling and behavioral guidance. The parents of Carlos should not act like Sharon mother when she refused to let the social work take her children, they will get my kids over my dead body. Therapy helps and intervention is needed as much as the problems are there.

If the problem is external, the parents should be invited to attend therapy sessions so that their marriage life can motivate the childrens ego and behavior positively (Harger & El-Sheikh, 2003). Caseworks, as well as therapeutic services, are the best since they provide parenting education, child, and family counseling together with family support. Carlos and the Mendez family needs the therapeutic services intervention and income support or material aid to keep the family together and solve the behavioral change in Carlos.
