Today than ever before we have the highest number of lifestyle diseases which continue to increase steadily. Whereas a good number of common diseases like malaria, polio, and cholera are becoming manageable due to advancements in medicine, a new set of diseases known as lifestyle diseases continues to rise as they become more complex to manage (Pinto, 2015).
These are conditions which result from peoples lifestyle (Pinto, 2015). For example, what they drink or eat, their level of activity, smoking among many other lifestyle adoptions. At least everyone knows someone who drinks alcohol, smokes a cigar, or even eats a lot of junk food, or even someone who never exercises at all. Those are normal lifestyles, and even some of us may be practicing them, but they are coming at our healths expense. Heart diseases, cancer, cirrhosis, kidney complications, diabetes and many other diseases are on the rise (Pinto, 2015). Even though there are other inevitable causes of such diseases, lifestyle choices rank among the top.
Even though several treatment options exist for these lifestyle diseases, there are also preventive measures. It is just naive to prefer curing a disease one can prevent from contracting. For instance it is far safe to avoid alcohol than to treat liver cirrhosis, whose treatment is not only risk but very expensive. It is also far better to avoid smoking which exposes one to carcinogenic substances than to treat cancer, which is also as deadly as it is expensive. Avoiding some lifestyle choices is the best method to prevent lifestyle diseases. Think of avoiding junk food and practicing regularly as remedy to obesity and related diseases, avoiding alcohol, cigar, and such other lifestyle choices which expose us to diseases.
Treating the Cause before the Symptoms
A good example to explain what should be given essence is waking up with a stomachache. The immediate reaction will be to get drugs to reduce or kill off the pain, which was just a symptom. However, these symptoms was a result of some bad food which was eaten. It thus comes down that it is critical not just to treat the symptoms but to also look at the cause and treat address. If it is bad food, stop eating it. Extending to other diseases, it is not just enough to treat heart problems, cancerous overgrowths, fatigue, tummy issues, and many other symptoms. One need to check the cause of such and treat it (Lopez, n.d.). That way, he or she will reduce the chances of the diseases reoccurring. In other words, treating the cause means strengthening the immune system, the heart, the kidneys, liver and such other body organs to function effectively.
Regenerative Medical Techniques
Just like many other technologies, this is one revolutionary and extremely essential in the medical field. When it comes to preventive diseases, Id say preventing the ailment is the only alternative to this kind of technology. Also, conventional treatment, which does not address the cause of the problem sufficiently can be considered as alternatives. However, regenerative still ranks best in dealing with the root causes of ailments. Regenerative medicine gives the body the needed ability (which the body might have been lost before) to heal itself (Anatara, 2015). Given the fact that I see it as the future of medical technology, the only drawbacks would be the cost it may attract.
