School choice refers to the national nationwide movement with an objective of empowering the parent to make the best education for their children. It gives the parent the responsibility of deciding what type of school their children will go whether private, religious, home education or public institutions CITATION For081 \l 1033 (Forsey and Geoffrey Walford). School choice also ensures that parent is protected constitutionally by ensuring they raise their children with the principle and values they prescribe. It is the role the parent to know if the learning institutions conform to the faith, which the parent wants their children to learn. Many have asked why school choice is important. A choice is a key considerate the market economy. On the other hand, when it comes to the education of a child choice is not a thing to bother a parent. In the current decade, learning institutions have increased in large number in the country. Several organizations and individuals have condemned pro-corporate education, as they believe there is a need to protect the public school from competition as this may also compromise on the education quality.
Today the education sector is under attack because of the mushrooming of many public and private institutions. Because of this, the school has developed pre-corporate education reform to ensure the protection of education in public sector. The pro-corporate education reform involves the development of the system where the government helps the parent to finance the choice of school through the tax credit or voucher, and hence the parents are not only able to take their children to the school but the school of their choice. School choice there has a direct correlation with the taxpayer costs, racial segregation, and education outcomes. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to look at the reason why school choice is of great importance.
Parent will always buy all kind of good and service to their children in the market. The mother will make sure he/she can purchase the best type of clothing, food, and toy for their kids. The father also makes sure he give his son or daughter the best childcare. When we come to education choice the question has been, do the parent chose the best for their children. Will the children get the quality of the education the parent want for their children? What is the effect of the school choice on the taxpayer money? On the other hand, will it help in the ratio segregation?
However, there are claims that the school choice is not to privatize the public education but allow for competition and helping the parent to take children to such school through giving them financial ability required. The study has indicated attending private schools has improved the academic performance over the years. The study on the comparison between the private and public school suggest that over the past few years the private schools have performed better than the public schools. The study indicates that most parents will prefer private religious school due to their better performance in comparison to the public school. When we speak about performance, hence we are referring to both academic perspective and values expectation of the parents CITATION Has \l 1033 (Hastings and Weinstein.). By allowing school choice the education attainment and performance is increased.
School choice also has played a vital role in ensuring that there are poor and minorities substantially. Research by the Harvard University on how School Choice in the New York Colleges Have Influenced the enrollment level. The study showed that the school choice system had increased the number of African students enrolled by 24 percent. The study indicates that the children from low-income families can complete the secondary school education. The study says that completion rate increased by 20-25 percent. In another word, school choice has played a vital role in ensuring that not only children from well up families can access quality education but also those children from low-income family and even minority communitiesCITATION Abd15 \l 1033 (Abdulkadiroglu and Yosuke). School choice is one way to ensure the gap between wealthy and poor is bridged hence promoting equality.
Other studies have been done to examine how the school choice affects segregation of people from different races in the schools. School choice creates room for the students from a different race to integrate and hence running different culture. This one way to ensure that there is on discrimination based on race among the children.
The objective of any government is to see that its education centers provide quality education. Quality not just in term of the grade but the question here is if the education here is, does the training given conform to the demand of the market? There has been a perception that school choice may have challenges due to the government inability to finance the education, but the research has indicated that school choice has increased the outcome of the education.
The primary objective of school choice is to encourage competition of public school within themselves as well as with the religious schools, and the private schools. Pro-Corporate education allows the low-income family who has no financial ability to transfer their children from non-performing public schools. The primary objective is to create a free market in education sectors. The students can attend the financially aided school of his or her choice.
School choice gives the parent the ability, freedom, and right to choose for their sons and daughters the best and safest school. In America parent, enjoy the freedom to choose education for their children. The system removes the financial and political barriers in the choice of the school they believe it meets the needs of their children CITATION For081 \l 1033 (Forsey and Geoffrey Walford).
In economics, we say customer taste and preference is a key factor in determining the demand for goods and services and hence competition rise based on good provided by the supplier. It is the responsibility of the school, therefore, to treat parents as customers by giving them the brand they require. This accountability of the schools to the parent help in increasing the competition among the public school and hence improving the level of the education.
From the study, school choice benefits are well defined. One is that the parents have the responsibility and right to make a choice of where their children will obtain the quality education. By removing political and financial obstacles, prevent parents from selecting the best and safest institution that will promote the creativity among the educators and hence promoting a free society. Creating a free society in the education, therefore, ensure the taxpayer money are saved, the equality among all people regardless of their race, social, political or economic background. Finally, quality of the education will be improved hence ensuring the school release qualified students.
