Waiting for Godot by Samuel Becketts is an absurdist play in which two characters, Vladimir and Estragon wait continuously and in hopeless for the coming of someone called Godot. The story lines of the play revolve around two seemingly down-and-out men waiting for the arrival of Godot. The play portrays the events of two consecutive days in the life of Becketts non-heroes Vladimir and Estragon. As they wait for the ambiguous Godot to arrive, they pass the time by debating about a variety of discussions and encounter three other characters. This play, Waiting for Godot, is filled with many possible themes; however, one significant aspect of the play seems to purpose out that our unspecified identity, perhaps is based on Existentialism, the struggle between faith and nihilism.

In the production Waiting for Godot, Samuel Becketts has presented the conflict between existing by religion and spiritual viewpoint, and by existing an existential way of life, which stresses that it is up to the person to find out the sense of life through individual experiences in the secular world. In backing of this statement in regards to the play is centered on the first-hand understanding of the action and dialogue within the play itself. Vladimir in the play says let us wait until we identify exactly how we position then Estragon replies by saying, "on the other hand it might be appropriate to strike the iron before it freezes." Here we evidently see that Vladimir is dependent on Godot to assure him what he requires to know concerning his being, while Estragon asserts that they do not have time to wait and they should take action on their own before it is too late.

The purpose of human being is an answerable question that seems difficult to find answers for the reason that we do not know where to start or whom to inquire. Existence to us appears to be something enforced upon us by an unknown force. There is no seeming meaning to it, and nevertheless, we still suffer from it. "Waiting for Godot is a play that catches this feeling and opinion of the world, and it symbolizes it with models that symbolize humankind and its conduct when faced with this understanding.

As the two wait for converse and wait under the tree, two other friends occupy themselves with mandated tasks such as taking on and off a pair of boots; taking off a hat, adjusting it and then putting it back again; and arguing about vegetables. On both days, they encounter a master Pozzo who drives his slave Lucky about the stage with a rope around his neck. Pozzo on the first day brings Lucky to the fair to sell him. On the second day, Pozzo has gone blind and needed Lucky to lead him around the stage. Each day ends with a young boy sent as a messenger o say that Godotis not going to come. This idea posits a working hypothesis that categorizes the work of the Absurdist Samuel Beckett is usually based on the premise of senselessness.

In conclusion, this classic of the absurd tragicomedy is a roller-coaster cycle of emotions from happy anticipation to boredom to utter desperateness and despair. Sadly, it is anti-climatic end with nonentity, which is in essence, the meaning of the play. However, about this, we need to examine ourselves what kind of realm it is that Vladimir and Estragon live. Significant achievements gained out of even the simple tasks. The human situation is therefore portrayed to be incredibly insecure, but maybe the one positive feature is our hunt for sense and meaning.
