The author reveals the need to study the urban creation before a person embarks on any religious exercise. The book develops the urban history and its evolution from the past to the present without ignoring the purpose of the church during these stages of development. Additionally, the book after having laid the historical foundation of the cities, it goes further into bringing into view the matters and issues that are present in the current urban areas. With the issues having been laid open, the author further offers the Biblical strategies he believes can help solve the needs of the people through his thesis on page 13, where he says the book aims at laying open the real nature of urban regarding every issue encountered.
I highly agree with the author's thesis on the need to understand the urban region before embarking on the decision to serve its audience. For instance, he is clear to give the people simple but concrete strategies of setting up as well as approaching city churches having put in mind all the issues and challenges present in the region. Evidently, the message of the book is practical as it answers some of the questions I have had like for example, how one can set up a church in the city, is the message passed in the urban churches similar to the rural ones and so much. However, with the provision that one has to study the demographics as well as the needs of the people in the region, then everything is possible. Moreover, the book provides other ideas like the need to embrace liberalism in priestly ministries as well as how he brought Numbers 13; 12 into perspective arguing how relevant it is to urban evangelism because it talks about cities (Morris 2016). To me, these are things I never knew related to matters regarding urbanism yet I have realized they are relevant in my life in that everything is developed and driven on the grounds of liberty and that the writing in the Bible is relevant in our life today. However, concerning how the author develops his ideas, the interest to know more grows in a circumstance where he merges the Promised Land into a city. It gives me the desire to know more on how the two can relate basing on the immoralities that have filled the city in contrast to the holiness of the Promised Land. Needless to say, the book ideas are convincing and leaves no question unanswered.
The author is clear to emphasize the need to embrace prayers in our daily life, an idea that has given me the lesson to pray every day to overcome the devil's schemes in my life. Through the moral lessons above, I plan to read the Bible every day to know the schemes and purpose of the devil and to pray efficiently to invite Jesus into my life as the only armor. Additionally, I have made a stand to go to church and receive the guidance of the evangelist and learn spiritual matters at a greater height to have the Holy Spirit in my life to direct and protect my loved ones and me.
