In other words, these words are used so commonly that one probably writes a paragraph with them and never notices. Cause and effect passages always exclude the aspect of time as they use words that explain situations and events. Learning how to use cause and effect words enable the transition of ideas to bring out explanations in a logical and ways that are easy to understand. These words fall under the three types of linking words, they are:

Conjunctions

Some of the most important conjunctions include because, since and so. Because and since are used to show the reason why something happens or the cause, an example could be they went to the beach because it was sunny. On the other hand, so is used to introduce an effect. A comma is often used before such words. These words, therefore, are always used to join two independent sentences. It is structured in such a way that when the joined sentences are read, a rational message is easily conveyed. Their exists grammar rules for using these linking words and should always be adhered to ensure proper transition of ideas showing a clear explanation of the cause of something and how it leads to the effect. (Perfetti, et al. 2014)

Transitions

The important words here are: as a result of, consequently and therefore. All of which introduces an effect of something. If the transition word comes at the start of a sentence, then a comma is used, but when it is used in any other place, then no comma is used. As a result of can be followed by an independent clause to organize a logical pattern in sentences. On the other hand, some words like due to can also be followed by a noun clause or 'the fact that' to show cause or the reason why something happened.

Preposition

Since the cause stimulates effect, prepositions such as because of and due to, are being often used. Both are used in introducing a cause in the form of a noun phrase and the effect the cause has on another thing. Although these keywords help in the identification of a type of pattern used in, it is common to find a paragraph having a mixture of different patterns that are different words that use cause-effect in organizing patterns.

Conclusion

Conclusively, there exist many other methods that can be used to organize patterns in sentences and hence information within a particular paragraph, but it all starts with the words used to bring out the cause and effect relationship. The mind often responds to consistent patterns hence when small parts are related to the whole, everything is simplified, and the point that is put across can, therefore, be easily remembered. That is where these words come into play.
