After reviewing the topics provided in the week one learning activities, I decided to pick the topic on the three challenges that single fathers face in raising their children for my essay. I have selected the topic since it highlights on the numerous obstacles that single parents face in bringing up their children. The rise of such cases is on rising; hence it sparked a lot of interests in me. Personally, I have grown up with a kid in my neighborhood who was raised by his father, and they both experienced numerous struggles
I know that parenting is not an easy task, and single parenting is even more challenging since it entails added responsibilities on one person. These challenges are numerous since the single parent has no one to share the day to day responsibilities and decision making. Single parenthood is an immense challenge since one has to deal with the situation of losing a partner as well as taking up new responsibilities.
In this paper, I would like to investigate and discuss the questions regarding how the single fathers can be able to overcome these obstacles. What are these challenges, what are the possible solutions to these problems, where can they get help, what has the government or the society put in place as a means to help these struggling single fathers?
The challenges that I will develop during this writing process include financial problems since money is the most important tool in running day to day activities of the family. Secondly, balancing and scheduling as the single fathers are required to balance between work and family duties while giving priority to the most important issues. Finally, single parents face the challenge of finding the needed support care since to get the person with the required attributes is a hard job (Bornstein & Bradley, 2014).
Week Two: Narrow Topic Worksheet
My broad topic is to thoroughly discuss and elaborate on the three challenges single parents face in raising their children. I have narrowed my overall theme into three sub-topics. Scheduling and balancing challenges that single fathers experience in their quest to raising their children, the financial problems that face these fathers as they strive to meet the needs of their children and finally the troubles that single fathers face while finding safe and reliable child care support.
What the question am researching about is about the challenges single fathers face in raising their children. From my point of view, parenting is not an easy task, and single parenting is even more challenging since it entails added responsibilities on one person. These challenges are numerous since the single parent has no one to share the day to day responsibilities and decision making. More so, these challenges are even greater when the single parent is the father since fathers normally have a busy tight schedule and are times not available for the emotional support of their children. The financial struggles now rest on the shoulders of the single father, and it is hard to cater to the needs of the children from a single paycheck especially in situations whereby the family is not financially stable. I also believe that since the fathers need to go to work, the stress of finding a suitable candidate to look after the children can be a real problem since it is not easy to find someone with all the desired attributes. Therefore, these single fathers required a lot of assistance from the members of the extended family and also from friends and well-wishers.
At this juncture, I will present the three key points that I will give in support of each of my narrowed topic. On financial problems, I will discuss how finances are necessary for running the day to day activities of the family, single income, unexpected expenditures and job problems. Balancing and scheduling I will expound on increased responsibilities, planning issues, prioritization of tasks and involvement of fathers in the school activities of the children. The challenge of finding a good care support I will discuss the lack of reliable and competent caregivers. Parents lack of time to watch the caregiver as they discharge their duties and the consequences of having child care support.

Week: Four, Five, Six and Seven (How to Use the Reference and Citation Generator, Body paragraph, Completing the Essay: Writing the Introduction and Conclusion Worksheet and Revision Checklist)
Introduction
I chose to highlight the struggles of single fathers due to the increasing incidences of single parenthood which is usually brought about by issues such as; divorce, abandonment, being windowed, artificial insemination, having a surrogate and adoption by only one person. Having a child and raising it is an enormous challenge. Almost about 16% of children in the world are raised in a single-parent household. In the year two thousand and six, about thirteen million families in the United States of America were headed by a single parent. When both parents are involved, it is relatively easy since one is assured of emotional support. Parenting is not an easy task, and single parenting is even more challenging since it entails added responsibilities on one person. These challenges are numerous since the single parent has no one to share the day to day responsibilities and decision making. Single parenthood is an immense challenge since one has to deal with the situation of losing a partner as well as taking up new responsibilities. In this paper, I will highlight in depth about the day to day struggles faced by single fathers in raising their children.
Scheduling and Balancing
Single fathers are flustered with loads of responsibilities since they are the only key players in the family as the only parent. Therefore, they are required to juggle all of those many roles through a hectic schedule. These fathers have the responsibility of dealing with the family matters all alone hence they have to plan well and organize themselves to accomplish all the tasks that require their attention. Proper and careful planning is needed to enable these fathers to tackle the overload of tasks and meet their career responsibilities (Dean, 2005). These fathers have to balance work duties and home responsibilities effectively. Sometimes these single parents are caught up with family duties hence neglecting their job roles. This situation causes job problems and can even lead to loss of job hence the family gets into a financial crisis. The workplace is a whole new world of professional responsibilities. Therefore, single fathers need to take care of their children, provide them with all that they require, including their time and at the same time teach them to evolve as a disciplinarian by being a friendly to them is an additional challenge. In addition to taking care of household chores, the single fathers must be there when their children need them. It is hard to adjust schedules and completely get involved with their childrens school activities like sporting. Missing school events can have adverse effects on the children since they may feel neglected and unloved. The parenting skills; understanding and patience are continuously put to the test, and it is usually a huge challenge to instill discipline in their kids while they have to spend most of their hours outdoors. They should make sure that the children do not feel ignored or isolated. To provide for the children, single fathers need to work extra hard as to be able to support them. A single father is supposed to take care of the children, provide for them and also teach them hence balancing professional responsibilities and parenting becomes a challenge.
Financial problems
Financial stability is an important factor in parenting. Finances encompass housing, food, daycare needs, schooling, medical assistance, gifts, and rewards. Child support payments, single income, unexpected expenses and job issues lead to financial constraints. This problem is the most common and the hardest challenge that faces single fathers especially those with limited sources of in...
