Apart from been flexible in thinking, the model does not reveal the tendency for individual differences present within the population. Motivation is highly personal. What seems essential to an individual may mean nothing to another person. The motivation for needs exists within the person. It's the person who struggles for better mastery of each need. On the other side, the blame is on the environment. Because other people and circumstances are what prevents the person from developing, the motivation should be free from frustration or even hated. These deficits needs are in the hands of other people, not within the developing person. Though the deficits needs are met, for example, overcoming low wage or hunger, many people mostly in the west suffer from boredom, apathy, resignation, or even been joyless. According to Maslow hierarchy, things are in immovable order. People within society have their basic needs in an order that is not specified.

Maslow had seven expectations which flew from the distinctive hierarchy structure. For example, Maslow detected that to some individuals, the need for love was a result of self-esteem. Maslow also noted that people were adapted to unemployment, their needs for personal growth and achievements gradually faded away, removing the two-part from the hierarchy. Alternatively, they are people who are starved for love since in their childhood bringing in the desire of social connection and friendship.

Finally, Maslow's theory was based on his biographical analysis and personal observations, which he considered to be self-actualization. Of which it was not made on any credibility, and he didn't support his theory as a fact. In facts, it consists of defaults that could be relevant if viewed from an academic perspective. For those who encounter the model just because of its well-known, should not treat it as a fact. The main problem is that the five basic needs are considered universally valid but is a linear succession.
