My work at The St Martin's hospital work for NHSP as a health work opened wide opportunities for professional growth that inspired my learning and close development skills. My stay at the organization was characterized with a plethora of tasks that were integrative to my academic lifestyle. As a team member in various tasks, I was engaged and busy every day. I will share my placement progressively noting how it differed from my previous experiences. The purpose of comparing these differences will help share how the organization shaped my career as a health worker.

How the work was organized, structured and managed by the staff,

The St Martin's hospital work for NHSP has a duly organized workforce. The workforce reflects on the need to meet urgent demands and deadlines that the organization is imposed through. The hospital has a board of directors on top, an executive body of managers composed of great doctors. Other prominent officials include the head of various departments. Common departments include Accounting, Psychiatry, Psychology, Inpatient, Outpatient, and Medical allowances amongst others. Ordinary employees come fourth to sixth in ranking. Primarily, each unit is led by a lead doctor and aided by a lead nurse. Teams had at least one physician and one nurse on board. Hansen (2010) explores the importance of a properly managed stuff inside the organization where he notes the usefulness of structuring of team commands. Hansen later advises the need for units of management as a clear perfect way where structure controls are followed. Based on Hansen approach, it is clear that assigning each unit to a lead doctor made it possible for easier formatting of basic commands.

Interests, Demands, and Challenges

There were areas of work that were interesting, demanding and challenging as well. The lead doctor who I was operating under had a tighter schedule, as the time of my deployment the team had over 11 different patients, of which 8 of them were in critical condition. These patients required urgent medical attention which placed the team under 24-hour surveillance. In our team we had another doctor in practice, I was the only nurse attached. The rest were five nurses, making our team of 8 a perfect match. However, given the urgency to deal with the eight critical medical conditions, the situation was demanding and challenging. Most of the time, I was left to attend to more than one patient at ago. It was demanding because most of this patient are completely mentally challenged, while others were too old and disturbing. It was also challenging because, at any time, we could be phoned to go back to the facility as there was an immediate activity requiring attention.

Main Challenges

The primary challenge of the placement was coming up with the activities of the medical facility. Other problems included meeting critical time deadlines, cooperating with unwilling patients as well as a poor reference to the particular medical condition.

Experiences learnt

In the process of working, I enjoyed the significant interaction with the team, which bettered my experiences of working with various units of support. I was also more equipped in learning to communicate with team members. The lead nurse was also very influential because he had a 30-year experience. She was also very gentle, and willing to talk with different instances. He shared critical information that equipped me during my day-to-day experiences. For example, she gave me background information of each patient, which expanded my skills of interaction. I was more inclined to following her commands based on the specifications provided by Tennant, (1997).

Working inside a Stuff

After being involved in the organization, I learned that working as a team was more inspiration and creative because it welcomed me to wider and better resources. Working as a team was made possible based on the communication models provided, in such an environment I was more equipped to respond to the challenges because seniors such as the lead nurse would share to me relevant information that was an inspiration and equipped me to be reactive under specific conditions.

Managers and Senior Staff

I got on well with managers and other senior employees as well as junior staff. For instance, through the process of communication, I was more educated on what to do on specific conditions. For instance, I remember in my last few weeks; I was handling a patient by the name Edward Martins, who was suffering Alzheimer-related complications, for example, memory loss. The patient was also recovering from cancer and had a deadly ordeal from with chemotherapy. One morning around 3 Am, Mr. Martin began shouting uncontrollably from his room. The shooting was so intense that it woke up other patients. I phoned the lead nursed to inform her about the emergency. She advised administering Alprazolam (Xanax) a sleeping medicine that would send him instantly to sleep. She later told me that Mr. Martin could have suffered complications related to Trauma that he experienced during the Stage IV cancer stage.

Colleagues Team Work and Activities

Personally, The St Martins hospital work for NHSP welcomed me to newer and better learning experiences. These learning experiences were closely related to the urgent tasks, for instance, as stated, the case of Mr. Martin, which was occasioned by progressive growth of the condition that impaired his judgment and learning. Other colleagues, for instance, the lead doctor and the five nurses were more instrumental in showing me various channels of organization management, personal time management, and professional conduct while handling a patient as well as administering various medicines progressively (Holm and Slphenson, 1994). The important role played by a team inspired me to build my skills based on the opportunities provided by the organization. Most nights, I was at the hospital working, and it is during the work, I developed a friendship with Mr. Edward. I wanted to learn his particular medical condition, recording all details using my phone so that I can study his reactivity later. I also learned that through the coordination and planned decision set, it was possible to share skills with different team members. Most importantly, I was in a greater position to understand the effects and impact of Alzheimer disease. The understanding played a significant role because it increased my experiences of learning to work with a patient suffering from such a medical condition.

Best Experiences

My best experiences for the placement were the night I had to spend with Edward Martin. At one time, he was already fond of me, and his senses would come back at my sight. He explained to me how he hated medicine all hospital life. He also explained to me how deadly cancer was. He explained to me the ordeal of living under medication. His explanation stated that he did not like the setting that his family members put him through. I saw a greater opportunity, primarily because I learned that his condition was a Psychology problem and not Psychiatrists. Unaided therapy, one that distanced from medication would play a major role because constantly talking with him increased the bond between us. The best moment came, when I sneaked a mobile phone to him so that we could regularly be communicating. Gradually, because of the love that I was sharing with Mr. Edward, the commitment towards winning against the mental condition was already being realized. I slowly noticed the need of sharing with patients increased their positive interaction with each other. Also, I saw sharing with patients increased their hopes of healing from the medical condition. The hope created meant that it was possible to interact with the patient gradually, hence learning deeply about his history of health, while using the natural body physiology as a healing agent. Back in my mind, I learned that if I was in a position to motivate the body to cure itself through igniting the natural healing material automatically, it was possible to cure the patient. The body of any living creature has nature protective materials. However, I learned that the melancholic environment created by the hospital challenged any prospective healing of the patient. I realized, love amongst other things played a significant role in motivating the patient to heal.

Possible Surprising Challenges

As a person, I developed certain professional skills that were rewarding to my career. I firstly learned how to handle patients suffering from various medical conditions. I also learned how to interact with the patient and gradually creating a friendly environment for the patient and me. Other important aspects involved learning how to the administer medicine, specifically noting how such an administration would improve the overall interaction between the patient and me. I also learned how to work each other in a basic unit of management (Jarvis, 1994). Such learning inspired and equipped me progressively, equally and creatively. I used search learning as an approach that expanded my to the nursing career primarily because it increased my ability to respond to the specific learning requirements provided by the academic. Based on my interaction at the facility, I learned that the educational background played a huge role in equipping me with skills that I would use to operate and function inside the organization. However, although the academic provided me with direct and decisive skills, I had to build my career on experiences.

However, these challenges motivated me to be useful in the organization because I learned the background situation of handling mental health patient. The problems also prompted me to equate what the academic provided, carefully comparing it with the resources provided inside the organization. The key factors inspired me to understand the effectiveness of the learning process, which involved recreating a concise way to generate positive employer incentives. The challenges also motivated me to recreate the right organization assistance while improving my ability for the professional growth (Neugebauer and Evans-Brain, 2009). These problems are important because they help in recreating proper benefits associated with workplace diversity. I also learned about the usefulness of increased adaptability that contributed to reorganize solutions related to problems of service, allocation, and sourcing. I also learned about handling a range of employee backgrounds particular talents and experiences. Besides, the challenges that I encountered were instrumental in managing me to perform the highest ability through various strategies that help meet goals associated with the vast organizational setting. These advantages increased a broader range of skills related to languages, cultural understanding, and services related to patient experiences.

General Reflections

Reflectively, the work placement increased my ability to understand and act as a nurse. I came to know that a nurse knew how to function inside a distinctive organization setting. As such, I learned that as a nurse I was capable of handling various medical related conditions if I was directly properly by a doctor. As such, I learned that as a nurse, I was capable of assuming an ultimate profession, if I aided a mental challenged individual to get to manage his problem.

Reflection on your learning overall

I have to agree that Hertzberg motivation theory played a major role in motivating me to operate inside the organization. I defended my approach using Hertzberg motivation theory that informed me I am more guided by Hertzberg Two Factory Theory, which includes creating feelings of progression as well as motivation that led to the creation of the satisfaction...
