Organization behavior (OB) is an interdisciplinary field that is designed to understand and manage employees better at the workplace. For OB to be effective, it has to entail research and application. There are three primary levels of analysis in Organization Behavior which are individuals, group, and organizational. Some of the most crucial OB in all organizations is as the following. First, OB assists people to understand organization and workers in a better way. This means individuals can be able to develop a friendly relationship between the employees and the organization creating a positive working environment within the firm. Secondly, it helps in motivating the workers, by ensuring that the manager understands the diversity of the individuals he/she is dealing with in his company. The manager has to apply the right techniques and tools according to the nature of individual worker. Third, it helps in improving the labor relations by assisting in understanding the primary cause of the problem, predict it future occurrence, and control its adverse consequences. Fourth, it helps to predict and control the human behavior. It equips someone with broad knowledge about the nature of human being, and this helps the leader to manage the employees more efficiently (Schermerhorn, 2008). Fifth, since the managers can manage the employees effectively, it results in efficient utilization of human capital.
Discussion
The study of the organization theory as a discipline is very crucial as it helps the student develop some essential skills required in the interaction between the leader in a firm and other subordinate staffs. For the firm to ensure it thrives, the leader or management should have a clear vision and understanding of the companys structure. Individuals can build excellent and high-quality leadership skills by observing the Organizational Behavior (Dolan & Lighham, 2012). People are known to be always in a struggle to satisfy their want at every stage of their life. Human will always tussle for the basic resources to satisfy their basic needs and wants such as thirst, rest, hunger, and social interaction. This means that even the employees need satisfaction in their daily work. Managers have to study OB to understand the diverse groups of employees they are likely to deal with in their day-to-day operations. Even the junior staffs with this kind of discipline will able to coordinate well with their colleagues. OB is well known for its research which equips employees with a positive working attitude towards their task and job responsibilities.
Companies need to employee managers who can be able to manage individuals while taking into consideration the diversity and the unique needs of every employee. Managers have to adopt new strategies that will help them think clearly and understand the differences that exist among the employees. The managing board should be able to recognize the contribution that can be made by every individual worker in their organization. Managers should not try to manage the diversity of every worker since it is acceptable and try to assimilate each person since it would involve a large sum of capital and in the process, much energy would be wasted. They should only try to understand the kind of service they will get from each employee. Many companies have started hiring individuals with diverse personality with the aim of expanding their market since they will able to manufacture products that appeal to every client depending on their origin or diversity ("What is Organizational Behavior?", 2017). Firms have taken affirmative action as a way of ensuring they give equal employment opportunity to different individuals regardless of their origin, gender, religion, race or any other difference that may deter a firm from hiring a qualified potential employee. Individuals diverse encompasses others factors such as politics which cannot be dismissed by the managers, but they have to know how to manage them in a productive manner. How an individual is attached to given politics depends on personal values, temperament, and ethics (Schermerhorn, 2008). Although the extent to which one is involved in politics affects his/her behavior, it should play no role on whether one is promoted or not. Promotion should purely depend on the level of productivity of the employee.
Companies can leverage on their workers regardless of their diversity by applying the following strategies. One, the management should give it workers a significant autonomy and latitude when completing their tasks. Second, the employees should be provided with a challenging assignment that will help in the prosperity of the firm. Third, all workers should be provided an equal opportunity when training is being done about a new technology or new method of executing their task. Fourth, workers should be provided with mentoring opportunities to give an opportunity to the young generation to acquire much knowledge from their seniors. Fifth, workers should be recognized by rewarding them whenever they do a tremendous job due their experience, skills, and wisdom acquired over the years. Lastly, the work environment should be designed in a way that it will be stimulating and fun to facilitate the workers to be highly motivated in their tasks (Schermerhorn, 2008). Persons will be able to draw and perform their plan and understand their current rank and be aware of where the next position will propel them to with their career.
Conclusion
OB is the application of knowledge concerning how folks and groups act and react within a firm or organization to accomplish the tasks and reach the highest quality of performances, and have the best results. One of the effective ways for organizations to thrive is to leverage on the worker to innovate. All companies and groups experience the direct correction between job performance and satisfaction. The company can maximize the performance of the employees within the system by developing an optimal interpersonal relationship among them. It is evident that teaching and implementing social skills has higher returns in the management of various industries. Companies have been able to utilize global human resource since their management can be able to deal with individuals of different natures and from all over the world. Organizations have been able to build their branches overseas and be able to maximize on utilizing their local labor as well knowing how to deal with the customers and the community in general. The individuals have to be dealt with in a positive way to get the best out of them by examining their culture, verbal and non-verbal communication. Any organization with a management team that understands the concept of OB will thrive easily in this era where everything is changing at a high rate, starting from technology and the customer needs.
