Introduction
Staffing is a vital industry that provides essential flexibility and support to businesses, opportunities, and employees' adaptability. Companies rely on staffing employees to assist in major projects, business growth, and new clients. I also give companies a competitive boundary in marching payroll and resources to the necessity at hand as well as giving employees a bridge to permanent jobs. With the evolution of the economy and the dominance of information and connectivity on its core, the recruiting, staffing, and labor force solutions industry is providing essential support, growth, and prosperity of businesses. The report covers both merits and demerits of flexible staffing and Flexible Staffing Service.
Analysis
In the process of seeking to minimize cost, Bamberger et al. (2014), suggest that Kaiser Manufacturing Company may use flexible staffing arrangements for several reasons. First, to minimize the quantity of hired labor, that is, KMC can adjust staffing levels to oscillations in the company workload, thereby over time. Similarly, flexible staffing may help in replacing sick or employees on vacation instead of paying regular workers overtime or overstaffing.
Second, flexible staffing may be used to provide a specific group of employees with lower benefits or wages. Although unions need above-market wage payments, temporary workers may be used as an incentive to minimize shirking or turnover among employees who are hard to monitor or who have high levels of company-specific human capital. This may enable the company management to decrease wages for employees with minimal effects on morale.
Third, flexible staffing may be used so that the management can screen potential workers for permanent positions thus reduce labor cost and increase labor productivity. A temporary worker hired through Flexible Staffing Services may be terminated with minimum peril of legal action. Moreover, using flexible staffing services as a screening agency allows me to side-step the irritating task of firing underperforming employees. Additionally, KMC may save by hiring permanent staff through flexible staffing services if since the agency if the agency enjoys economies of scale and can enlist and screen employees more cheaply.
Keiser Manufacturing Company may again use flexible staffing to acquire employees with special skills and to cater to workers' wishes for a more adjustable working schedule. Informal evidence shows that managers use flexible staffing arrangements sometimes to surpass head count limits imposed during merger or restructuring by a corporate office.
Advantages of Flexible Staffing
Advantages of workers and Keiser Manufacturing Company exist when I allow the flexible staff services arrangements. According to Ardito and Petruzzelli, (2017), flexible staffing and work schedule may first, give employees time to meet personal obligations, life responsibilities and family needs conveniently. The workers may take a yoga class, be at home during machine repair, or go to a parent-teacher workshop during free time. Second, flexible staffing increases the feeling of control over work environment and schedule. Employees may develop positive spirit since they determine their work environment and schedule. Third, workers burnout due to overload is reduced since they can take a break at will without suffering the wrath of an employer. Next, flexible staffing allows employees to work when they feel freshest, enjoy working, and accomplish most, for example, morning vs. night. Culturally, many managers prefer employees to perform during morning hours. Moreover, flexible staffing may reduce external childcare cost and hours in that if couples have an alternating schedule, they become available both day and night to cater for children and at the same time work on a full-time basis. Furthermore, Flexible staffing may minimize the traffic jam and stresses of commuting at peak hours.
To Keiser Manufacturing Company, the following advantages may accompany the use of flexible staffing; first, it may increase engagement, commitment, and employee morale to the company. Second, tardiness and absenteeism are reduced through flexible staffing arrangements in that employees choose the best working time, and the workload is reduced. Next, the ability of KMC to recruit outstanding workers is increased since they undergo screening by flexible staffing services agency that is in a competitive market. Further, flexible staffing may reduce turnover or shunning of valued employees. Again, flexible staffing allows extension of the operation of operations like in customer service. Finally, flexible staffing allows employees to perform when they accomplish most, enjoy working and feel freshest.
Disadvantages of Flexible Staffing
Various demerits may face employees while using flexible staffing. First, some employees who prosper in an office surrounding may face working difficulty when their colleagues have a different schedule. Hence core days and hours and days are required in which all employees are present. Second, flexible staffing lacks clear delineation between home and work as the employer can call even at wee hours for duty purposes.
On the KMC side, team-oriented departments may need a set of guidelines to meet. It will also trouble me as a human resource manager and fellow managers to adjust to the new management style of some employees working from home while others are in the office. Office-oriented staff may also view their colleagues working from home as slackers since their physical productivity is not seen. Furthermore, compressed work weeks may bring complications in flexible staffing services handovers, since some employees may be absent during such handovers.
Advantages of Flexible Staffing Services
First, by choosing flexible staffing services, I will relieve KMC of a load of selection, recruitment, and pay to roll, since the client bestows considerable administrative convenience. Second, FSS workers on help when needed basis may give flexibility to Kaiser Manufacturing Company in its staffing to match varying product demand. Third, Kaiser Manufacturing Company may experience liberty from litigation since flexible staffing services will be the employers. Flexible Staffing Services may also accommodate worker lifestyle since employees will have adequate time with their families.
Disadvantages of Flexible Staffing Services
The employees may receive low wages, a close to poverty level, thus rendering them to seek other jobs or get demoralized, (Bryman and Bell, 2015).
Other Information Recommended
First Kaiser Manufacturing Company may acquire the various skills, knowledge, ability, and questions used by Flexible Staffing Services to choose the best employee candidates. Second, Kaiser Manufacturing Company may consider pursuing and advertising a new product line since the current products face stiff market competition. Last, employees to be let go during these turbulent moments experienced within the company, (Hair et al. 2015).
Conclusion
Flexible staffing strategy is common among companies and organizations and the intensity with which companies use labor agencies is on the rise. There is a widespread perception among companies that flexible staffing arrangement due to its low cost to the respective company. However, few benefits, low wages, and little job security given to workers are assumed by most employers. Again, very few employees get promoted to permanent staff in this work arrangement. Researchers suggest that the employer more prefers flexible staffing arrangements due to lower benefit cost option in addressing vacancies, workload fluctuation, and staff absence. Therefore, proper guidelines are required to solve the unemployment menace as well as protecting both employers and employees welfare, thus reducing the adverse consequences of flexible staffing strategy.
