Introduction
Epic heroes are examples of leadership, courage, and sacrificing oneself for another. Odysseus, in The Odyssey, fulfilled all his requirements to be a hero during his entire journey. Because he was a leader and brave, Odysseus is an example for an epic hero. Odysseus's journey is an important part of the overall meaning of the work because it shows that Odysseus can be a hero.
Odysseus's status as a hero is a testament to the importance of his culture. Odysseus was strong and brave, and he put himself against his evil enemies to reach the noble goal of helping others. One example is "Cyclops," who says, "Cyclops," Ulysses, the son of Laertes, who lives Ithaca, said that his eye was out and it spoiled your beauty. This is Book 9. It shows how Odysseus saved himself and his crews. He also tells Polyphemus his name is Nobody to avoid triggering the punishment from gods like Poseidon who are trying to kill him. This shows that he was an epic hero in his culture.
Additionally, the conflicts in Odysseus’s life were difficult to overcome. But, instead of losing, he chose to take action. Telemachus is sent to Ithaca to assist him in his fight to win back his wife. "For example, Odysseus struck "...him below the chin and punched through his throat with the feathers." Penelope was convinced that Odysseus was real and that he had killed the enemies. He also knew that the bed was not right and that it was a sign. So he rebuilt the bedroom. Another example: "There's our sign!" I don't know any more. Could another person have cut that truck and taken the frame away?" Despite all the deaths Odysseus completed his mission and saved his family.
Conclusion
Odysseus demonstrates the characteristics that make him an epic hero. He was able to overcome difficult situations with his intelligence, courage, weakness, strength and willpower. These attributes would not have made Odysseus an ideal example of an epic hero. This makes Odysseus a hero and adds to the meaning of hardwork.
