The various researches that have been undertaken indicate that majority of older and elderly lesbian and gay men have passed through a life history where their main source of security against the heterosexist system was to ensure that they were low and not heard in the society. The main reason why they tend to adopt this type of lifestyle was no bar them from discrimination which would have affected their lives negatively. They had to deny their sexual orientation as this would result in various conflicts that would have tortured and interfered with their social well-being. The main reason why it is important to apply relational therapy with the LGBT older and elderly client is that they are at a greater state of social isolation and most likely to be single and leave a lonely life.

Relational therapy, therefore, is very important in ensuring that various individuals within the community are easily understood and treated to ensure that discrimination is eliminated and that the entire community leaves in harmony and feels part of the society. This will enable the LGBT older and elderly people to avoid self-denial and accept their sexual status as this will improve their living standards. This is because they will not feel discriminated and therefore will feel to more part of the community.

According to my analysis of the situation, Charlotte did try to follow the planned change process but it was not all that well. He would have done a better inquiry about the various challenges that the LGBT older and elderly client are undergoing. This would have enabled him to give a significant advice that would have ensured that the life of Tim was improved. The main aim of his interview with Tim would have been to know how the LGBT experience discrimination in their relationship with the community more so with the family members and to know if in any case, this rates has led to the high rate of depression or anxiety in Tims life. Tim clearly outlines the heartache of discrimination with the family members and more so his son and this would have been a great point of concern by Charlotte even though he did not go into depth inquiry about this situation.

The best type of practice that he would have engaged in was knowing what you don't know. He would have tried to use all the possible means to ensure that he extracted as much information as possible from the client. This was significant in ensuring that he delivers a very intense service and care to the client which was the main objective of the rational therapy particularly with the LGBT older and elderly clients. According to the illustration given out by Tim in the interview, it is clear that lack of affirmation from the family members and the society, in general, appeared to influencethe perception of the intimate relation more so in later life. This would have driven him to go into a deep interview and ensure that he brought to book anything that would have been the cause of such issues as they revolve to be the most discriminating factors in the LGBT clients and therefore affects them both emotionally and physically.

Both of them would have gone ahead to inquire what the friendship and the broader community, in general, have to do with the well-being of the clients. Tim even reflected that he had to join the gay whatsup group with the main reason that they were friendly and ready to interact and listen to your problem. This was a very important point of consideration as each and every step of happiness begins with the fact that you understand and accept yourself. It would have provided the client with more reason to live happily with the society as he would not continue denying himself and living with the fear of discrimination. They would have ensured that Tim was understood himself better and teach him his position within the society so as to ensure that he feels accepted within the society.

Treatment relational therapy would be very important in this situation. It will ensure that you dig deep into the root course of the client's problem and ensure that a proper treatment and solution to the same is provided. It will also ensure that proper care and community awareness on improving the living standards of the LGBT older and elderly clients are improved.

The best theory, in this case, would have been the relational-cultural theory. This is due to the fact that it is based on the idea of informed decision and assumption which is very is useful in extracting information. This would assist in the counseling of the LGBT older client and to ensure that they live a positive life. This is because the experience of relationship tends to be quite different between the older clients and more so the gay and lesbian groups as compared to the other parties. Research states that most of the older LGBT individuals have lived a distinctive and oppressive type of life-based on their sexual minority as compared to the population and therefore the application of this theory will enable proper counseling and improve their living standards. This kind of service is highly recommended for the LGBT clients.

The main responsibility here is to ensure that Tim comes to understand and accept the various positive ways of life. He should ensure that Tim takes full control of his life and to feel accepted in the community. This enables Tim to avoid the various anxieties he is having in life. This would help him achieve various things which would have been hindered by the feeling that he is discriminated and neglected in the community.
