Malo, C., Moreau, J., Lavergne, C., & Helie, S. (2016). Psychological Maltreatment, the Under-Recognized Violence Against Children: A New Portrait from Quebec. Child Welfare, 95(1).
The authors are critical in demonstrating how psychological maltreatment has taken centre stage in Quebec. In addition, they demonstrate the concurrence of this phenomenon with other cases of maltreatment. In their attempt to evaluate this subject, they critically analyse the prevalence of PM as a single act, its manifestation with other maltreatment, and the occurrence of other maltreatments without the PM. In addition, the presence of studies such as the Canadian Incidence Study and the Quebec Incidence Study are important studies critical in understanding this form of maltreatment of children. The source was recently published making it a credible source as it contains up-to-date information.
Gross, A. B., & Keller, H. R. (1992). Longterm consequences of childhood physical and psychological maltreatment. Aggressive behaviour, 18(3), 171-185.
Gross and Keller have addressed psychological maltreatment of children in another dimension. In their capacity, they seek to explain the problems, and consequences children undergo when subjected to psychological torture. The study involves a Child Abuse Questionnaire that gets responses to child mistreatments. The questionnaire has a long list of questions that address psychological mistreatments that they face. Therefore, with this comprehensive list, it makes the study credible. In addition, the journal is peer reviewed thus making it a credible source for the study.
