Displaying proper washing techniques helps the children observe good behaviors from these professionals on how they can prevent the spread of diseases. Modeling good health practices also train children to understand when to keep proper hygiene especially when dealing with things that expose them to germs.

Good model behavior also helps in ensuring that the environment around the children is improved. By observing those guiding them, they learn habits of good hygiene such as hand washing, healthy eating habits and much more. Through maintaining a healthy and safe environment professionals modeling serves the purpose of educating these young ones.

The various health behaviors I might model for children and families includes handwashing, diapering, and sneezing/coughing appropriately. Handwashing is one essential activity professionals dealing with the kids must teach to prevent illness personally and keep it from spreading to and among the children in care. Through handwashing, the cycle of germs is interrupted through the use of the antibacterial soap. Research indicates handwashing results in the decline of absenteeism and respiratory illnesses. It is a cleanliness routine which requires monitoring after a given period to ensure kids do not forget why they should wash their hands. Teachers and family members can play a role of constant reinforcement whenever kids make an effort to regularly wash hands to prevent themselves from germs that they face.

Diapering is the skill of placing a diaper on a baby correctly such that they are comfortable especially when engaging in daily activities with fellow kids. In early childhood education, fecal contamination of the environment leads to spread of infection from the carrier to others. Cleaning of fecal matter can be done through the use of disposable diaper wipes, gloves and hand wash.

Sneezing/coughing
