Introduction
Luciferianism is a different belief from Satanism, but the fallen angel in Christianity interpretations shows otherwise (Partidge, 2004). Lucifer is a symbol of enlightenment and is seen as a morning star. Lucifer is believed to be an actual deity by Luciferians. They think that Lucifer should not be worshipped as the Judeo-Christian God but should be seen as a teacher, friend, rescuer, guiding spirit and as a real god. Lucifer is different from the creator deity in Judaism. Some organizations were founded by Luciferians which include; the Greater church of Lucifer, Neo- Luciferian church and Fraternitas Saturni.
Lucifer is a symbol of enlightenment and is seen as a morning star. A philosophy of freedom and individuality is embraced by non-theistic Luciferian witches. They believe that they are born with experience, sense of honor and morals of their own. Thus they do not find in others imposing these things to them. They think that they need power and courage to progress spiritually. They do what they believe is right and not what others tell them is right. They do not regard themselves as sheep, but wolves and they do not seek the comfort of the herd. They believe in the way of the adversary and the path of a spiritual predator. They recognize themselves as animals and not better or worse than others. They learn from their mistakes and are responsible for their action. They acknowledge both their inner darkness and inner light.
Luciferianism has a symbol and is an aesthetic component which moves its beliefs to the realm of religion. Thus it is far more than just a philosophy. The system sees their god as transcendent and imminent. Their gods exist within them and outside of the universe that is created. The system chooses to embrace Lucifer as part of themselves unlike their theistic friends, thus resonating with their innate deity. There is a projection of own fledgling divinity perfection by externally manifesting Lucifer. Luciferians are inspired, respect, love but do not worship Lucifer. They perform rituals that are highly personal and fully perform them with full emotional content and focus. Atheistic Luciferians use conventional methods to commands daemons to appear and obey them. It is disrespectful to command daemons, but magicians see it as part of their practice. They disagree with worshipping any organization, and they see entities as a means of achieving great work.
Theistic Luciferianism is about worshipping and following Lucifer, unlike the atheistic Luciferianism. Luciferians believes in being friendly and enjoying life. They are not aggressive and do have the traits the society see as desirable. The religion feels that it is just like any other worship which includes worshiping the deity and praying. Luciferianism is given practices and everyday behavior they need to follow. The methods and actions are solely designed for the Luciferianism. One may be told habits and behaviors they need to drop and new practices that they need to follow. Luciferians also believe there are unfortunate or challenging events given by Lucifer to strengthen them and help them in developing personality traits Lucifer requires.
There are rituals of dedication done by Luciferians, for example, Luciferian baptism. The dedication ritual is followed by routine done later whose purpose is to pledge commitment for the rest of the life. The god then tells the followers what to do after the rituals. The followers may be asked to become priests or brides of Lucifer. There are rites done to Lucifer and daemons which includes a prayer or a request for guidance or an offering from a diabetic lancet. There are magick performances which are done with the help of Lucifer or daemons.
Luciferians have principles which they strive to live. They believe that social expectations and taboos should not hinder them from achieving their goals. If they make poor choices, they accept to face the consequences. Luciferians are not ashamed of wealth. They are encouraged to strive to being successful and enjoying the fruit of their labor. They are also allowed to take pride and highlight their accomplishments. Luciferians believes in being cruel and treat people who have wronged them with wrath. The way other people behave dictates how they want to be addressed. The Luciferians see no value in converting others. They are self-determined and do not seek followers.
Abrahamic religion doctrine believes in the afterlife that is paid for after one has suffered in the present life. Luciferians are against this belief. They instead believe in living the present day and making the most out of it. They think that prove that the choices one has made are right is through happiness. There are no expectations that today's suffering is necessary for being happy tomorrow. The natural world is generally protected by the Luciferians. They do not agree with the religious system that sees the role of a man as one entitled to use natural resources freely.
When it comes to art and science, Luciferians adheres Renaissance attitude. They regard creative expression and scientific exploration significant to humanity and for personal development. The Luciferians also believes that all knowledge is good. Ignorance leads to problems like lack, hatred and being unsuccessful. Luciferianism believes that humanity is both rational and physical. To prioritize the other one should be denigrated. Luciferians believes in the pleasures of the flesh. Luciferianism thinks that everyone has free will and has primary responsibility. Everyone has their talent and effort thus they are responsible for their fate. Luciferians believes in a finding way to get out of a problematic situation and overcoming the challenges causes pride and happiness.
