According to the author, human trafficking is the prostitution of persons against their will. The authors state that human trafficking is associated with various threats. The most affect victims of human trafficking are women and children because they are considered less defensive compared to men. In most cases, the issues of human trafficking occur when the children and women are lied to about the labor services that they are required to provide. Once the victims have been sold, it is hard for them to escape. The United States is one of the countries that has been affected by issues related to human trafficking. Barbados has been pointed out as one of the places that has experienced several cases of human trafficking. As a result of this, the united states come up with several measures that are meant to stop the vice. America has partnered with other countries that been hit by the problem of human trafficking.

This article claims that human trafficking has been on the rise in the past years. One of the reasons that has led to increased human trafficking is the desire for women and children to be used for sexual purposes. In the world, there is a distributed network of countries that take part in human trafficking. This network cuts across various places in the world including Barbados which has been identified lately as one of the places where human trafficking is conducted. According to the authors, sex trafficking is common in developing countries. Human beings are trafficked from these countries to other countries to be used as a source of labor and sex. The people who fall the victims of human trafficking are those who have been affected by poverty. Therefore, they are easily convinced that they will be paid from the labor they will provide. However, when they are taken to the countries that they have been promised they end up being exploited and oppressed.

The Latin America and the Caribbean has been affected whereby areas such as Barbados have been classified high-risk areas. With this problem in place, the government of the United States has launched investigations to identify the individual who responsible for this actions. In Latin America and the Caribbean, the number of people who have been trafficked are mainly women and children. The number of men who are being trafficked has been minimal. The authorities of Barbados has come up with strict measures that are meant to protect women and children.

In the Caribbean, the number of cases of human trafficking has increased due to the presence of male and female sex tourists. Most of these tourists take part in human trafficking whereby they trade human being whom they will use them for sexual reasons.
