Introduction
Chattanooga is a city located along the Tennessee River near the southeastern corner of the U.S. state of Tennessee and is considered to be the fourth-largest city in Tennessee. Being a transit hub, it is served by interstate highways and multiple roads. It is surrounded by mountains and ridges and is also referred by the nickname Scenic City because of its reputation for outdoor activities. The city has also been considered to claim of having the fastest internet service in the Western Hemisphere. It has its own typeface launched in August 2012 and known as the Chatype. The period when this typeface was launched marked the first time when an American city had its own custom-made typeface and also the first time such a typeface has been used for any municipality in the world.
There are various reasons why Chattanooga, TN is one of the best places to live in especially for college students or young adults. First, the city has natural beauty with a thriving arts scene and a business climate serene for entrepreneurship. Young adults of freshly graduated college students are usually at the stage in their life that they think about how they are going to invest through entrepreneurship and at the same have some fun activities making Chattanooga the ideal place to live in (ENGESATH 2018). Nestled at the base of Lookout Mountain along the Tennessee River, Chattanooga easily earns its Scenic City moniker. It is a great place for students especially those in college because the city is a favourite among outdoor lovers. It has also been nicknamed as Gig City as it has the largest citywide gigabit-speed internet making it appealing to young adults/College student and urbanites looking to take advantage of its growing job market and quality of life amenities. All these reasons combined to land Chattanooga on both the livability.com lists of the 100 best places to live 2014 and the Top 10 Downtowns is why the city continues to be one of the best places to live in America.
Chattanooga city is a great place to live in due to its natural attraction that gives the opportunity for outdoor activities such as mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, boating, fishing, white water rafting, hang gliding and even spelunking. With such outdoor activities, it is easy, clear and with no doubt why it has even been named the Best town ever by the Outside magazine. The Tennessee River also offers a host of recreational opportunities, both in the water and along its banks. Students living there can take a tour of the mighty river at the Tennessee Riverpark downtown which boasts several miles of hiking and biking trails, boat ramps and fishing piers for easy river access (Summerlin & Vernon 1999). It is the only city in America that gives the opportunity to view and see the borders of seven other different states while standing at its apex. Chattanooga is a good place for students/young adults to tour around and learn about the different natural places that have been ranked to be among the best in the world. For example, they can tour in one of the largest caves and get a glimpse of America's largest underground waterfall.
Chattanooga is not the best place to live in just because of its natural attractions and the outdoor activities but also due to factors such as the availability of job opportunities. The city has a lot of top employers especially due to its thriving art scene with a large amount of outdoor art which creates the cornerstone in the redevelopment of the city. Most of its development and expansion are usually at the artistic scenes and the Museums which facilitates the development of organizations that support arts, for example, Arts Build is an organization in the city that has always been focusing on integrating arts into the community and also focusing on entrepreneurship (Dreeszen 1987). Such an organization among others has been building new facilities especially at the Innovation District downtown creating a workspace for artists and this is why it would be advisable for college students or young adults who are aiming at becoming young entrepreneurs to consider living in Chattanooga as they will be engaged and involved to be part of the community.
Conclusion
The city is well spread out where even the city people can live downtown with others being further away but still in a 30-minute distance, therefore, ease of access to the city and various operations around.
