Current Drinking Age

In the recent past of between 20-30 years, studies have been established to effectively control the alcoholism, many policies have been set to help in aiding this process, the policies are to be applied all the way from international level to the subnational levels in the developing countries. The policies are normally set around giving restrictions and price variations to help in limiting their purchase to only those who are capable. The age now varies from state to state or country to country depending on the policies set in those countries. For example, in Kenya, the adult age is 18years and thus alcohol use and drinking is limited only to those with more than 18years. Despite the differences, 18years remains the commonest average year to be regarded as an adult.

Effects of An Additional Alcoholic Drinking Age

Research studies have it that in the past decade or half ago, mortality has generally increased to higher levels. Concerning the causes of this anomalous effect, it was also noticed that accidents, suicides and most important alcohol-related deaths are the core causes for this. From these data results, is it not yet clear enough that age with alcoholism stands to be a big concern in the fight against reducing the number of deaths for the youths? The answer is a clear yes and this calls for various serious remedies so that similar problems do not become hindrance factors towards achieving the future vision (Carpenter, 2009). Increasing the alcoholism drinking age can, therefore, result in a decreased rate of mortality and hence increase more chances for future motivators and innovators of the current world.

In addition, at the allowed alcoholic drinking age of 18years, this is the time period when the majority of youths go around looking for jobs in companies, industries, offices and even for personal generated jobs. One of the most common examples that the majority of youths get involved in third world countries is but not limited to driving. This is evidenced by the large population in the world who have purchased a vehicle and those who have not gotten that opportunity to own theirs. Because of certain considerations during the enrollment, such as work experience, it, therefore, limits those with 18years to easily access to these jobs.

It is thus common for youths ranging in the age of 23-35 years to be granted these opportunities because they are both mature enough and at some points in life, they have that chance to work somewhere else. These simply indicate that the age limit for youths is a very serious note, and when not considered like for the case of driving, many lives can be lost and this may eventually increase the mortality rate, a contradicting scope of the world's vision 2010.

Effects of Reduction on Alcoholic Drinking Age

School Dropout

Alcoholism is totally parallel to education, and in fact, if a mathematical expression is to be drawn, then an inverse proportionality can be the end relationship between the two elements. First, alcoholism has got very many side effects on the life of its users, mental breakdown and dizziness being at the topmost effects (Fell, 2009). These two effects only are enough to ruin a child's education, ones a student gets so much of it, it may lead to this problem which may eventually lead to poor performance in school and finally school dropout.

Increase in Crime Cases

Besides school dropout, students can also end up engaging in some activities like crimes, this immediately after they have been challenged mentally or after becoming desperate due to school dropout. To avoid such ill-like behaviors, proper education policies should be set to ensure that strict rules are put in place to help in fighting against alcoholic culprits and the sellers or the suppliers (Hawkins, 1997).

Increasing Rates of Gambling

Misuse of alcohol and increasing rates of gambling among youths are two things interlinked together and go hand in hand. It is therefore not logical to begin to fight against gambling while having alcoholism at its high rates of consumption by the youths. Research has it that, most youths gamble at a higher rate just after consuming a lot of alcohol. The main reason for this can be extracted from the previous illustration which stated that alcoholism is the main causative agent for brain damage after interfering with some cells in the brain if it is consumed beyond a certain limit (Barnes, 2002). The results also depicted that the increasing rates of alcohol consumption are also behind the effects of stability in youths. However, the researchers noted that this matter only affects the male child, it is not true in the current era as the majority of women are always seen in streets placing their bets with their own help.

Conclusion

The case study of this essay, which involved determining appropriate decision by checking at both ends of either increasing or decreasing the alcoholic drinking age. This just comes after realizing that age and alcoholism are closely related terms and in order to create a favorable environment that will not increase mortality, increase the levels of crime, increasing rates of school dropout and gambling rates. These effects result because of the harmful effects of alcohol to its users suppose it is overused, some of which include brain damage and dizziness.

Alcoholism drinking age should be increased for the benefit of granting learners enough time for studies and development of careers, additionally, it is also important to increase the drinking age to ensure that the energetic youths concentrate purely in looking for better things for generating income instead of involving in some activities such as gambling.
