Introduction

China's modern rise will have to reform international politics due to its political and economic impacts. It is not automatic that the rise of China will result in war with the United States of America, though some suggest the rise can lead to competition between the two nations. They argue that China will have to be compelled to pursue regional leadership and promoting conflict at the same time; this is what will help China to be secure in its global rise. Because China will want to achieve its interest with a lot of confident, the United States of America will also want to equalize China; as a result, the peace that is suggested might not be there. Seemingly China wants equal power and not dominance that allows the United States of America to acknowledge that China needs a peaceful rise which is there in their foreign policy. As much as the Chinese think that the United States of America domination is a threat, it is not possible to have a war between the two because having a conflict between great countries is something not possible (Alexandroff et al., 2014). Since the United State is far much ahead of China in terms of military technology, China cannot be tempted to have war with the USA, but the rise will have to change the international order. This paper seeks to explain if the rise of China will cause conflict with the USA.

The Chinese economy has been growing too fast over the last thirty years and becoming the second largest importer in the globe. Some suggest that it will be the largest economy in the world by mid-2020s and so their technology will be superior replacing the USA, and this may cause the USA to feel overpowered (Mearsheimer, 2014). The political realist suggests that the increase in power will lead to overt conflict. China will seek to reform the international order. It will aim at substituting the USA as the greatest power in Asia; this may lead to war with the USA. The availability of the nuclear weapon, separation of Pacific Ocean and the current political relation status should allow the two countries to maintain a high level of peace by averting negative military contacts (Alexandroff et al., 2014. Since China lacks confident of maintaining nuclear war with the USA, it is trying as much as possible to prevent negative military contact with the USA.

The rise of China will not ruin the security of the USA, but maintaining the contemporary alliances of the USA can ruin their security since the USA has to protect its alliances in Europe and Asia. So if one of the Asian countries conflicts with China then the USA has to protect; and so this can force the USA to involve in political confrontations and negative military contact that can alter their relationship, hence causing war in future. Besides, the US is a superpower at the international level (Alexandroff et al., 2014). The superpowers are always focused on their stability because they want dominance to persist. Therefore, they cannot accept anything challenging their dominance. It is important to note that, the rise of China will cause challenges to the USA dominance and so the US will have to deal with China (Mearsheimer, 2014). So this may cause a war between China and the US; however, the liberals suggest that China and the USA may agree to avert such conflict.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is not clear whether the rise of China can cause conflict with the USA. However, the political realist argues that the rise of China as they seek power will ultimately create conflict with the United States of America. As it is known that history repeats itself, this might be a repetition of the cold war where America and the Soviet Union were in war with each other. America has a hard time in amending its policies in circumstances that leads to problems caused by the rise of China in terms of military and power; the possibility of having peace occurring between USA and China too minor.
