What makes the Australian Studies an interesting discipline for scholars who are interested in learning about culture and history? Australia is a continent that is believed to have an interesting past (Elder, 2007). Some of the cultures practiced in this country are interesting to a point where a course has been developed to study about it (Tumbull, 2008). Australian Studies is a discipline that is offered in some of the best institutions in the world. Melbourne University is an example of these institutions which is considered to be among the best alongside top institutions such as Oxford University. Australian Studies refers to a wide field that focuses on different things such as the history of Australia and its culture (Elder, 2007). The society of this country is also studied in this discipline. Different aspects such as history, culture, and society in Australia are explored from the period when the Aboriginal settled in this country to date (Huntsman, 2001).

Individuals, specifically those who are interested in learning about the history of different nations and societies have a lot of questions about the different cultures that are practiced in Australia (Tumbull, 2008). The history of this country is also considered to be unique, and one of the reasons is the original individuals who inhabited this country known as the Aboriginal people (Huntsman, 2001). Australian Studies, therefore, investigates the more noteworthy inquiries of human experience and problems. People have different questions as well as dilemmas as will be seen in this argumentative essay about this country. In an attempt to answer their questions, this discipline was developed (Huntsman, 2001).

This study looks into details some of the rights that the citizens of Australia are entitled to. Understanding the rights of a citizen is important since while at the country, one would know when he or she is breaking the law or not. Understanding citizens rights also enable one to find out when his or her rights are being violated. Apart from citizens rights, the other consideration made in this discipline is the obligations of Australian citizens (Elder, 2007). The different responsibilities enable individuals to learn what they are supposed to do so as to contribute to the development of the country. Australia is a country whose population is low compared to other continents. Therefore, all citizens are tasked with different obligations so as to contribute to the development of this nation (Huntsman, 2001).

The study of Cultural beliefs is arguably one of the major components of Australian research. Different ethical theories have also developed interest among scholars, and as a result, the section is included in this discipline (Huntsman, 2001). Some cultural practices in Australia continue to change while some remain the same. The same case applies to ethical beliefs. In this discipline, the different manner in which these practices and beliefs affect the development of Australia forms part of the bigger study. The culture of this country is as expansive and differed as the nation's landscape (Elder, 2007). Different cultures exist in the country as well as different races, and this is seen in the various kinds of foods found in the nation, a way of life and the widespread experiences.

The cultural practices that are focused on the Australian studies are those adopted by Aboriginal people. These practices have been passed on for generations, and they continue to be practiced till date (Elder, 2007). Due to the widespread of influences that exist in Australia, the environment developed, particularly the cultural environment is considered to be an active one (Tumbull, 2008). Most people in the country are very innovative as a result of this culture, and this is one of the reasons why Australian Studies is termed as an exciting field to consider while choosing what to major in. The native citizens of this country developed a nation that is more based on different cultures, and as a result, growth has been guaranteed due to the high level of innovation found in the country (Elder, 2007).

Australian history is the other section that is covered in details in this program. This history is mainly focused on the original people that settled in the land of Australia, the Aboriginal people (Huntsman, 2001). Through this individual, the history of this country was developed, and they are considered to be the leading originators of cultural practices in this country. According to Australian Studies, these individuals are believed to have originated from the different parts of Asia in the past 60,000 years (Elder, 2007). After settling in the country, the Aboriginal people started practicing various activities such as worshiping and different manners of searching for food (Busbridge, 2013). The way in which the past of this country contributes to the development of the present is also studied in this program.

Australian studies can be argued to be a versatile program because it covers different studies apart from the history and culture of Australia. In most of the universities that offer this program, it's mainly found in, for example, the Bachelor of Arts. South Australia is sometimes considered due to the widespread opportunity that it offers to those who specialize in it. Sometimes, its difficult to find a program that combines the study of both culture and history of a nation. This is because culture and history are two broad fields that would require a lot of time to cover (Busbridge, 2013). However, Australian Studies combines the study of both areas and also looks at the relationship between the two. This integration makes the program more attractive since more knowledge is obtained about this country.

In Australia, most of the learning institutions have specialized in offering this program as part of its curriculum. The government of Australia has also encouraged this practice since its seen as a way of creating awareness among the youth about their past (Elder, 2007). One of the examples of learning institutions in this country that offers this program is South Australian secondary education (Tumbull, 2008). In this education system, different topics that talk about the studies of Australia have been incorporated with other topics. It has been seen as a way of developing an interest among the youth of learning more about the past of their country as well as the different cultural practices. Students who develop more interest are encouraged to specialize in Australian studies once they join different universities (Huntsman, 2001).

It can be argued that Australian Studies is a program that is more informing about the culture and history of Australia than other different courses. Though some individuals debate that this program should not be included in the education system of Australia, research has concluded that making people, particularly the youth aware of their past helps a lot in contributing to the development of a nation (Elder, 2007). Australian Studies is a discipline that leads to the development of skilled citizens who have adequate information about their country. Learning this program especially since a citizen of Australia contributes to the development of the nation. As discussed earlier in this essay, this program also states the different obligations that citizens have (Busbridge, 2013). Learning these requirements play a significant role in developing citizens who are skilled and ready to provide the necessary workforce in the country.

It can, therefore, be concluded that Australian Studies is educative particularly for the citizens of this country. More effort is being made to introduce more topics of this program in as many learning institutions of Australia as possible. Through this introduction, young adults can develop understanding the culture and history of their nation. Learning about their obligations as well as rights would ensure that these young individuals develop to become the appropriate citizens that are more concerned with the growth of their nation.
