The steps that one has to follow creating a relationship with a client include ones individual assessment of their strengths, values, interests, previous leisure activities , lifestyle adjustments that are necessary for any leisure functioning, and any economic or potential problem areas in their areas of the profession. After the assessment, one then builds a plan that is based on the abilities of the patient.
One of the treatments that I have utilized on patients who have problems with their social skills was positive psychology. Previously, I have worked with a patient who had faced social rejection while trying to use a public library. The patient seemed to be unmotivated to go to the library.
Some of the activities that I would recommend for an Alzheimers patient may include focusing on the interests and the skills of a patient, prompting both the past and present skills and in instances where the therapeutic recreation activities are done in a group setting, I would recommend the provision of friendships.
My favorite experience as a Certified recreation Specialist was working in KinderCare. The benefits that I had was very good. In fact, KinderCare had many flexible places to work in. in addition, there the organization had benefits that really helped out as there was a special discount for employees with families. The work environment was set up to favor both the patient and the to Certified recreation Specialist. My favorite population to work with were children. Working with children have me the opportunity to enhance some physical abilities of children who had disabilities, improve the self-esteem and confidence of children while at the same time increasing independence amongst my patients. What I tried to impose on my patients included strengthening their peer interaction skills and the development of their lifelong leisure attitudes and activities.

Therapeutic recreation specialists and persons who provide group or individualized recreational therapy services or interventions. There are various behavioral, recreational, and educational that are activity oriented with patients that are used to enhance the functional performance of children or people with disabilities. The impact of therapeutic recreational services improves positive lifestyle behaviors that may have been intended to increase the interdependence well-being and participation. It is imperative to comprehend that the individuals who provide therapeutic recreational services are vital members of the society, especially in teams offering healthcare and other human service agencies. It is a job like any other job. In fact, the daily experiences of therapeutic recreational specialists may vary dramatically depending on the clients or the environment that they are serving in. it is also vital to understand that the specialists work with different populations, families, clients and other members of the treatment team. This normally occurs when the specialists are working together with other members offering healthcare to design and implement programs or individualized putting the setting into consideration. In such circumstances, the specialist would ensure that they respond the orders provided by physicians to conduct individualized assessments of their patients and to offer group or individualized to address the treatment goals set for their patients on their caseloads. Some of the things that I learned from the interview is that the tasks performed by specialists may sometimes be daunting. It is vital that specialises be willing to undergo dramatic days that are stressful.
Some of the aspects that were helpful to me were the fact that the profession can be practiced on a wide range of the population. There are various individuals who need the services from military personnel to children with autism. The job could be beneficial in that there are healthcare facilities that pay well. Apart from earning well, I would also be working in areas that I am passionate about. Moreover, it is an opportunity that gives one some form of ability to change the lives of other people.
There are areas that I, however, need to develop. Personally, I find it sometimes challenging to work with people in teams or groups. This is an area that I need to work on in the future. I tend to think that I am solely responsible for changing an individuals life and sometimes this does not give other people the opportunity to serve others. There are some issues that I would love to explore in the future. In the future, I would like to work on popularizing the importance of services provided by therapeutic recreational specialists. There is a notion that they are not vital members of healthcare. This then takes away the importunities that other people would have relished to have.
