Introduction
There were various assumptions made on Maslow's motivation theory. They include: behaviors that people have are usually as per the requirements (Noltemeyer, Bush, Patton, Bergen, 2012). When a person accomplishes certain things and has already achieved all the five needs, his or her behavior is usually influenced by how much one has succeeded.
The other assumption is that the psychological needs, esteem, self-actualization, safety, and love and belonging needs when fully achieved, they reduce a person's motivation speed.
On the other hand, it is clear as per the assumptions that the needs of a person are achieved hierarchically from the higher ranked requirements to the lower categories done though they are all critical.
It is said that when a person achieves a specific need, another need follows as a replacement of the other need that has been obtained. This means that motivation is a complex process and that it's a continuous process on all the obligations.
Psychological Needs
This is one of the lower categorized needs in hierachy. According to Maslow, psychological needs are considered as the foundations of motivation (Noltemey et al. 2012). In psychological needs, people in this category are just surviving because the psychological needs that they have are only considered as universal human needs. These needs are the first needs towards motivation, as at Maslow's study. They are available to help human satisfy themselves internally, and when these needs are gained, then one will be able to be psychologically satisfied as a person. The psychological needs are needs that must be met accordingly. Examples of psychological needs are; food, water, sleep, clothes, shelter, and sex.
Safety
Among the deficiency needs according to Maslow safety is one of them, the safety need is a need that is achieved after a person has acquired the psychological needs fully. Security needs help to detect a person's behavior (Noltemeyer et al. 2012). These needs are essential to a person's life because, through them, one can deal with different hardships in life, such as violence, disasters that may come their way appropriately. One's security is usually a need that you cannot live without it in life. The safety needs under Maslow include; a people's emotional and personal security, financial stability, and health assurance. We should all know that motivation is a continuous process as per the assumption of Maslow about motivation.
Love and Belonging
As per the assumptions of Maslow on motivation, he says that motivation comes at any time in a person's life and that at that time; people become motivated to do great things. Love and belonging are needs that human beings need for them to be satisfied accordingly. When the higher level needs are ultimately achieved, they tend to be not benefiting (Rasskazova, Ivanova, and Sheldon, 2016). This is the third section of the hierarchy of needs that involves people's feelings towards different things and persons. They include; people's families, the friends you have and the intimacy that one shares. When a person has been accepted and is a part of a particular group, then the love and belonging needs are termed as achieved. These needs promote good relationships between people and earn a person position in a community. The way children can be motivated to grow by attaining their academic goals (Noltemeyer et al. 2012). When one has successfully earned the love and belonging needs, then there will be no conditions like experiencing depression, loneliness' or stress amongst beings.
Esteem
According to Maslow, self-esteem needs vary accordingly, including one's ego. This stage involves the urge for respect from others. The requirements include; the need for fame, need for attention, and recognition. Self-actualization
When one gains this need, he feels respected since through achieving this need; a person can know and understand that his or her life is of value and that it's meaningful to continue living. In this stage of a person's life, one becomes potential and believes in his self wholeheartedly. The needs of people at the higher level have always been satisfied through the requirements at the lower level (Rasskazova et al., 2016). Usually, when people achieve this level, they earn respectfully. Example of self-actualization needs are; parenting, one utilizing his abilities, when one is pursuing his or her goals or trying to look for happiness.
