Introduction

Saudi Arabia, Eastern region is one of the communities in Saudi Arabia that consists of people of different origin. The community is found in the far western part of Saudi Arabia. As of 2017 national survey, the above community had a population of 683,577. Additionally, the community is located at the border between Saudi Arabia and Qatar; this, therefore, means that there is a diverse population or the people with different origins in the area. As a result of the location, the community is influenced heavily by the Qatari as well as the Arabic cultures. The area has a large Islamic population and it also has a history of being part of the Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The region is a home to numerous Arabian festivals and cultural events. They boast of a rich historical origin as well as the cultural and economic activities that define the livelihood of the population. The above figure indicates the Saudi Arabia, Eastern region and its surrounding. The community is specifically located in the intersection of two nations, in other words, it shares borders with two countries, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Although the community has got people from both Qatar and Saudi Arabia, there is a definite boundary that separates the two countries, additionally, to the North, South, East and West, the community has got well-defined borders that separates it from other states, counties and even cities.

Community Description

Saudi Arabia, Eastern region exhibit both the formal and informal system of communication. For the formal system, there are different channels whose major stakeholder is the government i.e. the local and national government. The community has different forms of formal communication, the information being relayed to the audience is controlled based on the social and cultural norms. For instance, the media is controlled based on the stipulated principles that guide the behaviours and activities of the people. In Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community, there is also the informal communication systems that are even expressed through social media. The informal communication system is however not controlled, additionally, there is no key stakeholder in the informal communication system. One of the major formal communication channel in Saudi Arabia, Eastern region is the National Communication Systems which also operate in different areas, the organization facilitates the process of authenticating information before being dispatched to the public. The people of Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community while communicating, applies both the formal and informal language. Saudi Arabia, Eastern region is a diverse community with different kinds of people, the major language is spoken in the area is Arabic, additionally, there are some other languages such as English, Najdi Arabic is spoken as the first language. On the other hand, most of the older generation in Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community speak Hejazi Arabic., and it is helpful, however, it is not always necessary to understand the language. Nonetheless, due to the diversity of the people, there are some other local languages that are spoken in the region. In Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community, the family is the basic unit of social set up. In the area, social network facilitated by various factors including sports, cultural activities such as arts, education and other activities undertaken by the people in the area.

In the Community, people interact equally irrespective of their origin and cultural values. Just like any other community across the world, Saudi Arabia, the Eastern region has a well-defined political system. The people often take part in the electoral processes to elect their leaders in different capacities. The community follows the Arabian system of government where there is a national government and the local government. Therefore, the members of Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community have the right to participate in the election to elect their representatives in the above levels of government. In Saudi Arabia, Islam is the main religion that is embraced by almost ninety per cent of the population. Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community has a diversified economy that primarily focuses on both the local and international trade, the community has different sectors including oil and gas, healthcare, service and tourism sectors. In accordance to 2017 survey, the Saudi Arabia, Eastern region metro had a GDP of 15 billion dollars, additionally, in the year 2012, there was a trade worth 40 billion dollars. The community also boast of the ever-expanding transport system which contributes significantly to its economic growth. Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community have different educational systems, from the basic primary education to the university, the community also boast of different colleges and other technical institutions that often equip learners with necessary skills to ensure their economic advantage. The University is the highest institution in the area. The education system in Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community is supported by both the local and national government. Additionally, due to the region's proximity to Qatar, the majority of Saudi Arabia, Eastern region students also attend other universities in the neighbouring country.

Even though many systems are working within Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community, there are still different resources and assess needs, the community lacks elaborate research centres for the emerging diseases. There is also a lack of modern agricultural systems to enhance production of food products. Some of the community assets include schools, colleges, road networks, rail systems and public hospitals. The individual's assets within the community include buildings, personal businesses, homes, personal vehicles and other assets that generate income or store wealth. Association assets include apartments, vehicles, hospitals etc. The institutional assets include schools, universities, hospitals and churches. The critical health indicators are attributed to pediatric immunizations and admissions in different healthcare facilities.

Based on the community assessment, some of the health problems include cancer, heart diseases, accidents, cerebrovasc disease pneumonia, and influenza, cirrhosis of the liver, bronc diseases and perinatal cau diabetes (Al-Nozha et al., 2005). In Saudi Arabia, Eastern region community, most people believe that cancer is caused by unhealthy eating and lack of enough exercise. Additionally, the cultural believes and social values dictate that the above diseases are caused by the lack of effective government interventions.

Based on the health indicators and assessment analysis, the community health priorities are to set up more medical facilities including cancer screening centres to curb the increasing rate of cancer problems. The community is also in urgent need of the physical exercise programs to improve the health and fitness of the members of the community, a situation that will lead to a healthy society. Additionally, the community should engage in urgent training of more medical professionals to take care of the increasing number of sick people at homes and in different healthcare facilities.

Recommendation

In accordance with the above research, the community health priorities need to be addressed in order to protect the community from the increasing death and emerging diseases that continue to affect people in the above community. Both the local and national government need to give priorities to health sector over other issues.
