Introduction

There is no good in letting the issue of relating with people get in the way of being productive. My relationship-oriented style always benefits me working to enhance customer relationship and it can also be a good plus for the future. Being team oriented makes it easier to adapt even when you are transferred from one department to another.

Further, I did the Personal Style Inventory, which revealed the exact person that I am. I learnt that I am a person who is an extrovert, a feeler, an intuitor and also a judger. These four described me on how I perform my tasks as well as how my personality is. One thing that characterizes me is my impatience. I am impatient with routine and this is one of my major weaknesses.

I like doing things like decisions on impulse. This can be positive but most of the times it tends to be quite costly. As a person who is an intuitor, what adds to my strengths is that I can work with the most complicated people in any department , this is a very good strength as it enables me be able to complete assignments even when given complicated people (Komives and Wagner, 2009). What makes me a little bit weak is that I cannot work out on the very tedious tasks because of my impatience. My impatience cannot allow me to work on tedious assignments as I tend to give up very easily.

As a person who is a feeler I am able to be considerate of other people's feelings (Kouzes, James & Posner, 2014). This makes me be able to work with people with different opinions and personality. My weakness as a feeler is that I am not organized and I may find it difficult to organize tasks as they are supposed to be organized. As a judger I am able to hold on a task for long but sometimes it makes me stubborn. This assessment has proved to be useful not only now but also for the future.

I also went ahead and did a Team Player assessment which informed me of how much I value being in a team or working alone. I learnt that I am somebody who likes to work in collaborations but while I do that I hate challenges. This is the same as the assessment that described me as a person who is relationship-oriented.

Collaboration has been defined as the process of human relationships, how people work together, and how they value and relate to one another (Komives and Wagner, 2009). This means that I am somebody who appreciates working with people on different tasks and collaborating with different people. This is a very important strength that makes my personality good. This is because in most organizations there is always working in teams and doing collaborative work with others. As someone who is a low challenger I enjoy making others happy and most of the times I am given opportunities that make me improve me as a challenger.

When I was able to do the Orientation Towards Change assessment what I found out is that I am an individual who is always ready to face changes. This is a great strength as we know we are in a dynamic world that keeps on changing. The business environment changes every time and being ready for any change makes me have the ability to adapt to changes easily. Being somebody who likes changes I can be free to adapt to new ways of doing things rather than sticking to one way or a very long time (Komives and Wagner, 2009).

When changes come to an organization it is good to adapt to them easily and make it easier for others to also adopt the changes. This strength was among the many that I liked about my personality as it makes me be able to work out on assignments not using just one way (Kouzes, James & Posner, 2014). This can help me in my development and even in future careers when I will change and do something else.

One assessment that showed my biggest weakness was the Listening Self-Inventory assessment. After this assessment I found out that I am a bad listener. This worried me especially the fact that I have to deal with clients who need to be listened to keenly. This weakness I can improve with time as I continue to learn. One thing that is evident is it is true sometimes I like speaking even before I listen to someone and this makes me look like I have formed opinions.

This is a rather bad trait as it makes me give bad responses to people. What I can try to do with this is to teach myself to be more of a listener than a speaker. I should prioritize listening before I can jump in and give my opinion. This will mean that I will be able to understand what the speaker is saying before I can give my opinion. I am teaching myself to be a better communicator. Communication is an important skill in any work place and it creates good relationships between people in the organization.

Conclusion

Taking this self-assessment has been an eye-opener to me. This will make me improve very much on the areas that am supposed to improve as I maintain my strengths. This will generally make me improve on the areas that need to be improved thus making me better. Throughout this life I have been learning about myself and every day I continue to l continue to learn about myself. This is very much important in my progression as it makes me a better person in terms of leadership and personality. The lessons that I learn helps me in my growth and leadership making me be a better version of me. This helps me have positive impacts.
