In the article, the author ventures into explaining the concept of modern American-Israeli terrorism influence on the weakening of the Arab states. The author agrees that terrorism is a wide field that has no clear definition. In explaining the history of terrorism, the author points out that terrorism has existed in the history of many countries in the form of anarchy, combating colonialism and the Vietnam War as well as the religious fights where assassinations, hijackings, and mass killings were rampant (Al-Jamra, 2019). Therefore, he believes that other states have used terrorism for usurping benefits either individually or publicly. Therefore, informal bodies and states have exploited modern terrorism to gain influence and other favors in their counterparts. In this context, America and Israeli had objectives in the Arab regions and had to seek ways of weakening and dismantling the region majorly by provoking ethnic and sectarian wars as well as sedition in the region. Majorly, America utilized terrorist organizations such as the Al-Queda to ensure its survival in the region. America used the means to protect and secure Israel while protecting the oil resources in the regions.

There are two types of motivations and causes of the emergence of modern terrorism. These are private and public (Al-Jamra, 2019). Public motivations include the collapse and disintegration of the Arab state. The Arab state was too fragile after colonialism. This was the ultimate motivation of the colonial powers since they wanted to leave the region in a state of independence, mistrust, separation, and disunion thereby unable to protect their sovereignty. This left more border problems as a result of independence thereby eliciting more separations hence more exposed. More powers such as America came under the pretext of assistance. As the tyrannies continued to spread, the countries opted to use coercion against the enemies instead of building and developing internal policies to spearhead true democracy. This left the regions under the influence and interests of the major powers.

Private motivations include the emergence of religious extremism among the youth. The religious extremism was on the central idea of unifying the Muslims and Arabs by coercion using Islamic law (Al-Jamra, 2019). America and its cohorts such as Israel seized the opportunity that was available to the terrorist groups with the objective of sabotaging the economy and the region with the view of curtailing them and suffocating the opponents. As the extremists continued to spread, poverty and hunger set in. Israel exploited this opportunity to have control over the surrounding neighbors. Unemployment among the youth was also among the private motivations that cause modern terrorism. The Arab regions comprised of many youths. The youth aged between 15 and 29 amounted to approximately 32% of the population. The unemployed youth are vulnerable to exploitation and blackmail by the powerful countries under the promise of employment and favors for them to derail from the traditional and social patterns. This brings problems to the host countries and the political structures.

According to the author, America and Israel had targeted in the Arab region. These targets include maintenance of the security of Israel. The American political belief in the biblical doctrines led them to maintain the factors that brought security to Israel including the 2003 occupation, destruction, and dismantling of the Iraq army. Moreover, the American power wanted to weaken the Arab countries around Israel while resolving the Arab-Israel conflicts. Finally, the American wanted control of the energy sources in the Arab regions (Al-Jamra, 2019). The artificial lack of oil created by the Arab countries forced America to send military troops to the region for them to intervene against any country that tried to prevent the flow of the product to consumers thereby inhibiting economic growth.

Al-Jamra is sufficient in explaining the role of modern terrorism in the disintegration of the Arab world. He draws his expertise as an assistant professor of law and political science to bring forth succinct information regarding the topic. Form the article, the reader can easily connect and understand the concept of terrorism and its usefulness to the America-Israeli relationship. The ideas are interconnected and he draws substantial information from other researches to validate his arguments. He makes summaries of the main points in the article in the abstract and the conclusion segments. This improves on the appeal to the readers. Finaly, as the author points out, terrorism is an expansive term that has no clear meaning and still forms a basis for further studies.
