IBM Watson was first introduced in 2010 to the public after being developed for a lengthy period by a team of researchers who were led by David Ferrucci, who was the principal administrator. The project was named DeepQA, which developed Watson, which is a computer system that as designed with the ability to answer any questions that may be proposed in a natural language. The computer system was developed at IBM, and it was named after the company's first CEO, who was an industrialist. His name was Thomas J. Watson.

Doctors commonly use the IBM Watson through an app that is referred to as schema that uses (NLP), which means natural language processing, which enables them to input all the patients' data. This system can read the x-ray scans and even MRIs through visual recognition. This helps in the narrowing of the focus towards an ailment in a potential patient. This computerized machine can reason automatically and is filled with knowledge representation. I was aware of this program and the day it was introduced and its uses in the hospital. What I didn't know is how the machine can interpret natural languages. The IBM Watson is primarily trained data and not rules, and the slot grammar is the survey system that is algorithm based rules some of the few that it uses. After the question has been interpreted, it searches through its multitude of sources to find the accurate answer (High, 2012). The reason I was not aware of this process is that it is only used in medical purposes, and I have little interest in that discipline and have not personally interacted or came across the system.

The first IBM Blue Gene was developed in Rochester, Minnesota, in the IBM laboratory in the year 2004, September 29th. It passed all other simulators that had been there to become the world's fastest computer. The computer was created to tackle thousands of cooler running processors of low power. The equipment was designed to reach very high speed and at the same time, use very little electricity. I didn't know that the Blue Gene computers have been ranked as the most powerful or as well the most efficient machines and they have always been toping in the ranks in the list of Graph500 in system rankings. IBM Blue Gene also created L, Blue Gene/ Blue Gene /P, and Blue Gene/Q which has always toped in the Green500 and TOP500 in terms of their power (Chiu, 2011). They were all created in three generations.

The company might end the blue gene family development though it has never been publicized and it has concentrated their efforts in the supercomputer open power as from 2005. This project was also awarded the trophy of National Medal of Technology and Innovation in 2009.
