Introduction
Cloud computing has been common in the recent past and it has been embraced by the big computing company's. Organizations such as Amazon, IBM, Microsoft, Facebook, and Google are leading in the market in offering cloud computing services. Despite the cloud computing industry is successive in the twenty-first century, the industry has been faced by several challenges. The organizations in the industry have faced storage security issues of the information submitted to them by their cloud computing clients. Alarms have been raised that the storage security of the cloud computing systems is not concrete. To be specific cloud computing is experiencing storage security issues like data segregation and protection, data leak prevention and confidentiality.
Data confidentiality has become the main storage security issue in cloud computing (Jayalekshmi & Krishnaveni, 2015). It is the main issue because most of the cloud computing clients are wondering how safe their sensitive information is because its storage involves its transfer to the remote server. In other words, the organizations offering the cloud computing systems have not fully convinced their clients that their information is confidential. The clients have the worry of losing control over their sensitive information and surrendering it to the third party. Normally cloud computing enhances the security if the sensitive data through cryptographic encryption. However, there have been occasions where the encryption has been stolen hence access of the confidential data by the unauthorized persons. Stealing of the encryption is occurring especially in the circumstances where the CSPs have the option of encrypting data before it is uploaded to the cloud. Consequently, a number of cloud systems clients have had their personal information leaking to unauthorized parties.
Data segregation and storage is another storage security issue being faced by almost every organization in the industry. Recent research has indicated that the rate of data segregation and protection is at a rate of 92% (Rao & Selvamani, 2015). This means that almost every organization in the cloud computing industry is experiencing the challenge in a large manner. In other words, 92% of cloud computing users and providers have ranked it to be a critical issue. The process of segregating data of one customer from another customer's work follows logical isolation. At times the process becomes vulnerable to hacking and information leakage in the event Azure malfunctions in the course of separating the data. So far the organizations have embraced encryption and Azure systems and they should maintain them as well as enhancing their security.
The last but not least storage security that is common in the industry is data leak prevention. Organizations such as Amazon, Facebook, Microsoft and Google among others have installed systems and policies to prevent leakage of their clients' data. For instance, in their policies, they always discourage their clients from saving their passwords in integrated systems. Secondly, the organizations have made efforts to ensure that storage of information follows the ACID features. The ACID promotes the preservation of the data through preserver systems. Despite the efforts, there have been instances where confidential information has leaked out from the organizations. This has raised alarms in the recent past and a number of customers are afraid of disclosing sensitive data in the cloud systems.in order to prevent data leakage, organizations have created breaches and integrated them in cloud computing systems.
