Introduction
I have several strengths and weaknesses in terms of professional accountability. Apart from the diploma I acquired in nursing, I have ensured that I advance my education by getting a degree in nursing to help me get the skills needed in handling the needs of the client. Unfortunately, education is not the only requirement for success achievement. Thus, I have competent skills needed in making sure that ethical practice and behavior in the field of nursing are followed. I also belong to a professional nursing association that ensures all nurses utilize internationally recognized practices. However, as a nurse, I have not received any certification so far, and this is a weakness for my career but am working towards having as many certifications as I can to enhance my profession.
Career Planning
Regarding career planning, I highly understand the description of my current job. Through this, I have been able to provide the patients with quality care and ensured that the organization I work for achieves its goals and objectives on time. In my career as a nurse, in future, I want to be an Advanced Practice Nurse, and I will achieve it by getting a PH. D or master's degree in nursing. The degree I get will enable me to work as a Certified Nurse Midwives, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Nurse Practitioners. Having a career plan has helped me to have direction concerning the things I should learn with the ever-changing nursing filed and the world in relation to technology and skills.
Personal Journey Disciplines
In personal journey disciplines, I love team leadership, and this has enabled me to work with the team members in the nursing field efficiently. Also, having democratic principles have ensured that the organization does not have conflicts due to the bureaucratic and aristocratic form of decision making. In my personal journey disciplines, I always ask for help when I am uncertain on an issue. However, the issue of wanting to be perfect in everything that I do is my greatest weakness. In most cases, I feel that I am the only one who can handle a certain issue, perfectly forgetting my other team members. This issue mainly occurs when we are given a project, and I end up doing most of the tasks due to my urge to being perfect. As a leader, I have always ensured that every member of my group participates in the group activities even if they do not do much, and this helps them to develop their skills.
Reflective Practice Reference Behaviors/ Tenants
Integrity is the main value of leadership, and I always maintain truth in everything that I engage. I believe that all the patients tare equal irrespective of their cultural background, and this has enabled me to provide quality care for my patients and care for them. As a nurse, I have also learned the importance of accepting and tolerating different practices and beliefs as I know that people are different. Unfortunately, I have a weakness in holding different perspectives without judgement. In making judgements, I tend to favor or be on the side of individuals I have interacted with. I am always committed to the activities I engage and ensure that I offer my best. Therefore, I believe that I am competent in this area.
Using My Current Leadership Skills in Advocating for Change in my Workplace
Change is important for the development and growth of an organization. I will use my leadership skill of integrity in advocating for change in my workplace. I will ensure that my team members work towards the expectations of the organization in ensuring that it achieves the set goals and objectives. Furthermore, I will ensure that the employees are committed towards the activities which they engage in doing the right thing irrespective of the circumstances which they are presented with. I will advocate for change using this leadership skill by creating ethics policies which are sound and integrating them in the different processes of the organization. The ethics policies will then be communicated to the employees of the organization and make them know that deviation will not be tolerated. Through this, my workplace will become successful, which is the aim of every organization.
Personal Growth
The personal goal for my leadership growth is inspiring and encouraging my team members in reaching their potential and attaining their personal growth. Through this, I will become a great leader. I will do this by involving every team member in planning the goals of my team as it makes them feel like part of the organization. The second implementation plan is setting high standards will also enable the members to challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zone. As a leader, I really want to be great, and this can only be done by ensuring that my group is also doing well. Thus, I will also ensure that I reward the members who are performing well to motivate the other individuals.
